Beautiful things Asiatic adaptations of Les Misérables gave us:
Al Bouassa (1944): The June Rebellion being replaced by JvJ/El-Sharkawy having a shootout with the Patron-Minette in which he rescues Javert/Fahim who was kidnapped.
Ezhai Padum Patlu (1950): Felix Tholomyès/Ram Gopal gets arrested.
Kundan (1955): JvJ/Kundan having a picture of Javert/Sher Singh to grieve over after his death. Honourable mention goes to Thénardier/Jokho beating the shit out of Tholomyès/Gopal.
Beedala Patlu (1972): Jvj/Kotaiah running into the woods to save Javert and almost getting an heart attack from seeing him dead.
Al Bouassa (1978): JvJ having a fatherly moment with Èponine.
Jean Valjean Monogatori 1979: Jean Valjean getting to reunite with Cosette rather than dying.
Taro Minamoto's Manga: The entire thing really.
Manga Sekai Mukashi Banashi's Cosette and Les Mis: For the first, Thénardier getting strangled by Valjean, for the second, the ending. Honourable mention to JvJ being chased by an army of scary shadow Javert clones in a nightmare.
Dodook 1996: Marius visiting Mme Thénardier to talk about Èponine's death.
Alouette No Uta: Javert's whole look. Also being Cosette-centered.
Arai Takashiro's Manga: JvJ, Javert and Thénardier being furries.
Shoujo Cosette: Cosette as the main character, Marius getting character development, Gavroche gets to live and a dog sidekick, Javert surviving because he literally saw the light, Azelma and Jean Valjean interact, Enjolras and Jean Valjean interact, Èponine and Cosette get to talk about their childhood, Azelma getting a far more hopeful ending because Thénardier was arrested and Madame Thénardier survived her prison time, I could go on forever tbh.
