Hello, you might remember me as the person who did that Narita masterlist long time ago. I'd like to ask something that has been bothering me for years, do you know anything about "Baccano! ????: The illusional first and last episode"? Is this side story even exist? TV tropes (and apparently Baka-Tsuki) listed that as side-stories, but unlike the other SS listed there, I can't find anything about the SS. I tried searching on JP wiki and blogs (this was around 2012-2013 when I made the masterlis
Iâve been following your blog for some time, so I can do one better than remember, haha. (Been a while since I last saw your posts, though--hi!)Â
Iâm pretty sure they must mean Ronny Schiattoâs origin story, which was published in the limited Dengeki h & p (beginning and period) issue (Nov 2007) of the now-defunct Dengeki hp magazine. The issue itself is split into h (beginning) and p (period, end) sections, and each section has short stories written by various Dengeki Bunko authors. h has stories in the mode of first chapters/beginnings, while p has stories in the mode of final chapters, ends.Â
The title sounds like the magazine issueâs titleâthe actual story, of course, has its own title: BACCANO! B.C.300 ~Notorious B¡E¡Ginning~ (subtitle: âFullmetal MetallurgistâThe Bizarre Adventure-loving HomDiver from the Age of the Lionâ). This story is in the h section, along with a Durarara!! story about Mikadoâs middle school graduation.Â
As you might guess from the reference-laden subtitle, the story has a lot of parody elements in accordance with the issueâs parody theme. However! It was summarized/brought up in LN Volume 22 1935-D Luckstreet Boys, so we can generally regard it as canon.Â
The magazine issue itself is super hard to find, these days (when I got a chance to buy it I seized upon the opportunity)âthe Japanese text hasnât been directly translated, but @monomae did a great translation of the Chinese translation here if you havenât read the story yet. Iâve also got a wiki page up for the story nowâitâs our 500th article, huehue.
Ronnyâs origin story has always been my guess, since I canât think of anything else that comes as close to that name. Hope this gives you your long-awaited closure!
