Rewatching KR Build and Im reminded of how easy it could've been for the writers to have made Banjo the main character over Sento (though sometimes its hard to tell 😅)
Designating a character who would be a meathead shonen protagonist otherwise gives Shogo Muto alot more space to write Banjo as complicated, and shockingly dubious. Banjo's not a guy who starts out with a heart of gold, hes a guy whos willing to risk innocent people's lives if it means clearing his name. Going as far as to turn someone BACK into a kaijin to help serve his personal interests. Its something you'd see Nox from Zeztz do, and hes the VILLAIN for most of the first arc.
This also places Sento in an interesting spot. Since hes handedly more self-sacrifcing and angsty despite his egotistical exterior. Giving a richer tension to their dynamic. With Banjo's bullheaded nature meaning that he doesnt simply change at behest of Sento. The decision to grow is entirely his to make.
