Originally this was just a one-panel comic. But it was too tempting. Scout's Fuck Around to Find Out ratio needed some adjusting.
Alek courageously manages to not walk out the nearest airlock. But his subconscious lovingly files this moment away in the "remind him of this six years later at 3 am as evidence that we're a horrible person" drawer.
You can tell I didn’t grow up playing video games by how I’m reacting to the KOTOR tutorial section
Like why are you in character telling me about clicking things
Why is combat something I don’t actually do anything much in
Why do I have to stand back I could totally shoot that Sith’s knees out and make things easier for that Jedi
Also what is the plot I have not been given enough to be invested
…the non-MMO video games I’ve played are Mass Effect, Baldur’s Gate, and Expedition 33… and Nancy Drew games. So I’ve never engaged with this era of games before
Please tell me the plot gets more compelling tho
I feel like the closer we get to Dark Side, the more Scout starts to just become the version of Revan that I wrote for Cin Vehtin.
And now for an entire litany of content warnings in the tags...

How would Kess and Scout get along? I know this is a foolish question because Scout's arc is nowhere near finished and Kess' ended *checks notes* February… that sounds wrong, the concept of time isn't taking complaints. Also, I'm loving the Sasha storyline. Please don't kill her for the plot, I am begging you.
(I'm going to answer the part about Sasha at the end of the Ask. If that's the part you want to see, you can tldr your way down until you get to the art. <3)
I don't think it's a foolish question at all! I was going to draw a scene with them, but they didn't cooperate, so I'll just tell you how I see it going:
At first, they would hate each other. But what they would actually hate is the idea of the other person. Scout is Revan - the specter that haunts Kes's past. They would be scared of Scout, fearing that any level of trust in them would lead inevitably to manipulation into the Dark Side.
On Scout's side? Kes is a version of themself where their memories, beliefs, and experiences were intentionally stripped away to nothing. Their very existence would seem like an insult. Scout would rather be killed than have that happen to them. There is a not-zero chance that Scout would attack Kes with intent to kill on sight. And probably lose because Kes is actually the stronger fighter. lol.
But give them enough time to get to know each other, and I actually think they'd get along. Kes is a lot more formidable and capable than they seem at first glance. Plus they're genuine and confident in a way that Scout has never had the courage to be.
Scout is a lot more reasonable than Kes thinks (when they aren't having a Dark Side crash-out) and their sense of justice is one Kes could easily relate to. Their knowledge and experience is something that Kes is lacking, and as much as they feign indifference, they are desperately curious about who they were before.
So the short version is, if they could survive each other long enough, they could become really good friends.
And now for the Sasha part!
Okay, it's going to be a while before we get confirmation on Sasha's fate one way or the other. And for those who know Kotor, you know Sasha is currently on a planet that gets bombed to hell in canon, and the child-shaped language puzzle's fate was never confirmed.
So I'm going to tell you if she lives in my comics.
If you don't want spoilers stop reading.
Last chance!
SPOILERS AHEAD!
"Your name is Shasa? And you want me to tell your father to stop being a coward? 🙄 Sometimes the Force isn't even subtle..."
So Scout's first major Dark Side action was killing a young Selkath named Shasa instead of convincing her to go back to her father. 🙃 We're definitely back on track for this being the evil playthrough, I guess.
I'm bored out of my mind so I created these two edits. The idea for the first one has been stuck inside my head for years.
