Having started their careers in the late 1990’s in Porto, both have been active in defining the local art scene, not only as artists but also as curators, producers and art educators. Their works, often site-specific and with a mutual preference for media such as installation or film/video, reflect upon the conditions of post-colonialism as examined through personal, family narratives (Santos Maia), or the dynamics involved in art production and its various undercurrents under late capitalism (Ramalho). In both cases, the concept of impact can be traced as a defining element.
