Haat (হাট) is a weekly market regional to suburban and rural Bengal. Being in an economically weak region of the country, and located at mostly inaccessible areas, the haat-s are an integral part of rural Bengal. People from neighboring localities, or villages come here, crossing miles only to refill the weekly ration for their households. From groceries to potteries, toys, clothings, and much more, attracts people during the weekends. It can be noticed especially during the Puja times, when crowd overflows making the roads congested! Well, a joy and some nostalgia, these haats are a part of age old Bengali culture! Just like Tagore quoted...
