If you don’t mind, could you explain the storyline of kobik? Is she alive? Is she even human? 😭
I have seen some fanarts and comic panels of winterwidow, especially bucky, with her but I have not heard of her in any comics recently.
Hi!
Well, actually we have no idea where Kobik is and if she is still alive tbh.
Kobik isn't a real child, actually, but the sentient version of a Cosmic Cube, made with fragments of different cosmic cubes (think something like Loki's Tesseract in the avengers movie) that take this human form of a little girl.
She was being used by S.H.I.E.L.D. to wrap and change reality in Pleasant Hill, this sort of high security correctional prison (really some sort of stripping people of free will and sense of self experiment) for supervillains.
That's where Bucky met her the first time and he decided to save her 'cause she was being used and exploited for her power without her full consent. I guess Bucky saw some similarities with what Department X did to him, and he couldn't stand that.
She got really attached to him, and he to her, as a sort of big brother/father figure, and Kobik remained with him when Bucky became leader of the Thunderbolts (Thunderbolts 2016).
The last time we saw Kobik it was in the Secret Empire finale when she helped undoing the rewritten twisted reality that herself created and that made Hydra Steve Rogers a possibility.
Title: Everyone Gets to Eat Author: RuckyStarnes Card: B008 Characters: Bucky Barnes, Kobik, Alpine Rating: General Words: 774 Written for: @buckybarnesbingo Square: Adopted: "It's tradition" Summary: Kobik always feeds Alpine first. Before herself. Before Bucky.
By the third night, Bucky stopped pretending he hadn’t noticed. It wasn’t anything that set off alarms in his head the way other things still did. It was just…a pattern.
The kitchen was warm with the faint scent of soup that had been simmering since late afternoon. Snow pressed softly against the windows, piling up in slow, patient layers like the world had decided to hold its breath. Bucky stood at the counter, sleeves rolled to his forearms, ladling broth into chipped bowls they’d picked up at a thrift store because Kobik liked the way the glaze cracked along the rim.
At his feet, Alpine wove figure eights around his boots, tail flicking with intent. Behind him, Kobik sat cross-legged at the small kitchen table, hands folded neatly in her lap. She wasn’t humming tonight, but her attention followed every movement—his hands, the ladle, the steam curling up toward the ceiling.
He set the bowls aside to cool and reached for the cat food. Alpine’s ears perked instantly and Kobik slid out of her chair and padded across the worn rug without a word. She crouched beside Alpine’s bowl, poured the food with care, and set it down gently—like it mattered. Like it was the most important part of the evening.
Alpine dove in with happy enthusiasm. Kobik stayed there, watching her eat not once reaching for her own bowl. She just sat back on her heels, hands resting on her knees, eyes soft.
Bucky leaned against the counter, something tight forming behind his ribs.
“Hey,” he said lightly. “You hungry?”
Kobik nodded once. “Yes.”
“Then why don’t you—”
She shook her head before he could finish. “After.”
What if I cry…
