I totally get it, stereotypes are horrible and demeaning and all, but thereâs a theory that myopia is caused by focusing on close objects at a young age, since our ancestors never had to do that, so our eyes arenât adapted to staring at close objects for a long time (like reading). So itâs entirely plausible that this âstereotypeâ is actually true: ânerdsâ, or more intelligent people, read more as children, causing myopia and causing them to get glasses. Hence, the ânerdyâ stereotype with glasses.
