Every now and then I explain some niche chronically online memes to my dad, for example last week a friend of his had knee surgery so I first verbally explained it (the warped and somehow blue picture of the animated grinch…). Anyway, it is one of my favorite things to do because nine times out of ten, this is his reaction when I show them to him.
Heres the thing: I dont care if,in 20 years I might need another knee replacement. I dont give a tinkers damn if the average age is 70 and the youngest ive see is 49.
I have no cartilege in my knee. Im working on exercises but nothing will regrow the necessary padding that keeps my knee cap and leg bone from grinding against each other.
Over the counter meds dont do dick. And im not taking oxy codine for years just to function.
So give me my fucking new knee. I refuse to live in fixable pain for a decade.
I went to my orthopedist today cuz of my bad knees. They took some X-rays and based on those results (bone on bone arthritis, no cushioning in knee) I’ll be getting surgery to replace both knees (not simultaneously). They’ll let me know in a week when I’ll have the right knee done first.
