Those beautiful mountain colours from Northern Argentina at 4000m+ altitude. The solitude and emptiness is soul food. We couldn’t drag ourselves away from the place, eventually riding around the area for 2 weeks. The best part that there aren’t that many people around never mind tourists. Which makes you feel like you’re discovering a new place from a bygone era. The one thing about travel and being able to visit places on a bike that excites the synapsis and forever burns into the cerebellum are those landscapes where you still get to understand and know your place in this world. There’s nothing around, none of the BS politics and man’s self-made problems matter. There’s nothing, just the wind, the smells and you. It is such a humbling privilege that theres still places and spaces on this blue marble we call home where we can experience remoteness. Where you can feel the world on your skin and teeth with not a soul around. It is those times you also learn a bit more. Nope, its neither a Baobab in Africa nor one in Madagascar. It is a Ceiba Chodatii and its a native tree from Paraguay. The beautiful colours at sunset with these trees are reminiscent of Africa. Many people skip Paraguya because its flat and hell hot. Paraguay has so much to offer and is an incredibly interesting country with a rich history. Another fuel stop filling from cans. Its the one-horse town of Quetena Chico, Bolivia. The horse have died and only a few people was left behind. Its at 4500m altitude, bitterly cold in the mornings. For the inhospitable environment the people are surprisingly warm hearted and friendly. Some cars and small trucks make it here but never leave. The road shaking them to an undignified death. 📍This is also one tip we can offer, is buy an in-tank fuel filter. We will never not use them again even if at home. The small cost of a filter vs the inconvenience, troubles and having to fix a stuck bike in the middle of nowhere due to contaminated fuel is just not worth the expense of the filter. And even in highly developed countries we had issues with water in the fuel. @guglatech make some pretty impressive in-tank fuel filters and generic ones to use on any bike.
