I’m pretty sure it has more to do with stereotypes about the movie fandom than anything else — and the fact you RP a movie-exclusive character. Ain’t nothin’ you’re doin’ wrong. He could have worded that a touch nicer, though…

I'm more pissed than anything because he knows  I know my shit.

He's commented on pics of my comic collection. Back when he played Hellboy, we'd had conversations over the comics. He knows my DC RP blog is Golden Glider. He knows my favorite DC villain is Zoom/Hunter Zolomon

Look, like I said, I don’t mean to offend you, and I’ve been in these kinds of arguments myself — on the opposing side. I just don’t think these kinds of problems are nearly as big an issue as people make them out to be.

You don't think that oppression is nearly as big an issue as it's made out to be? Or the fact that women, in an effort to become more appealing to men, will smack down other women, in fashion or class or fandom alike? That women are trained to look at female characters and pick out the flaws, while, by and large, male characters get passes- with a few exceptions?

Or, that, oh man, women make up about 40 percent of the comic fandom these days and I am still subject to comments from older men- no matter where I go- about whether I'm lost or where my boyfriend is or if I'm looking for Nightwing. And when I say that, no, I'm there for the newest Wolverine or the next part of House of M I'm missing, they insinuate its because I must find a character involved attractive? (lets forget the fact that I'd bone Wolverine. That has nothing to do with this) Or the roll of the eyes when I pick up the new X-Men title because of course  I want the all girl team.

And any time you mention to another woman that you're a fan, ninety percent of the time it turns in to a game of twenty questions to see who the realest fan is? Because women trample women in this game to appeal to men.

Or the fact that female cosplayers are sexually harassed at cons far more often than men? That they're told, if they don't want the attention, they shouldn't dress the way they do?

Or, oh, hey, Rick Remender, who uses women only as plot points and motivation for men. And, of course, there's the whole bit with him and racism involving the X-Men, but that's another issue entirely

It's fine that you don't think it's an issue.

But that doesn't make it just go away for the rest of us who see it. Or feel it. Or are hurt by it.
