Clay tile cabinet All those trays of tiles felt quite vulnerable without without a home and were starting to hoard dust, so I've designed and laser-cut myself a little cabinet to hold them. Pretty pleased that I only made one error (width of the back) and needed one extra feature (doorstops) despite designing it all by hand. Washi tape hinges for now, and I might replace the door pulls with something less jutting, but I'm really pleased to have my tiles safe for now! I've got room for 9 trays in here, so I'll be able to continue the 3x3 tiling and make 3x3 sets of tiles for a wall of 81 textures. #lasercut #100dayproject #clay #mdf #kitronik #tiles #motherofinvention #makersgonnamake #maker #laser #diy #washitape #mtcasa #washitapelove https://www.instagram.com/p/CKESwsvBXKq/?igshid=efg70fuc7qxq
Create a London Eye model and turbine station with a micro:bit This is lovely and also a great micro:bit resource. The folks over at Kitronik have written a detailed explanation of how to build this great London Eye and turbine station model over on…

But could we make it work?! No. Four hours Sarah and I tried to get those lights to work individually.
We tried reasoning...
Bargaining...
Which seems like a long time. It was. But we were totally stumped. We could only get things to work in a linear fashion, and all the worksheets and help-sheets just did one thing at a time!
This is what we needed, a light to switch on and off at the button.
Now to add three more of these...

Kitronics Well-being project. Stage 1
Sarah, Sarah and I are working towards a well-bring eTextiles product.
Based on our research we have decided on a band that reminds wearers to keep up habits we know are healthy (research based on NHS etc.)
Initially it was coined the 5-a-day’ band, playing on the 5 portions of fruit / veg per day:
1: 5 Portions of Fruit / Veg
2: 8 Glasses of Water
3: 30 Minutes of exercise
4: 1000 steps
5: 5-minutes to relax
We found the Igloo had the limitation to only add three LEDs (in the way we want to use them) plus one built in LED - we decided as steps and exercise could be very similar, to remove ‘steps’ - as lots of everyday items (e.g. watches and phones) have pedometers built-in.

What is the Igloo?

This stuff was really going over my head, it’s been a while since I have done anything electronics (other than SKE so far) and this was really out of my comfort zone.
The Igloo is a programmable control board based on the PICAXE system.
The board can be used to read INPUTS such as switches and sensors. You can control OUTPUTS such as LEDs and buzzers.
PCB: Printed Circuit Board
PIC / IC: Programmable / Interface controller - allows the programmer to SIMULATE the program, before downloading it to a PIC mini-controller integrated circuit.
OKAY, but what can an Igloo really do? Igloo is a sewable PICAXE control board. It uses a chip (PICAXE 14M2 micro-controller) that can be programmed using the FREE PICAXE (online) programming Editor Software, Blockly, or BASIC or flowcharts (PICAXE).
