To clarify what I mean in this case:

IF (Interactive Fiction) would be a game with minimal visual assets. So no sprites, no BGs, no CGs.

The original characters from the larger game in that universe I had to put on essentially indefinite hold in my head:

Both elevators at my job have been down for two days, meaning I had to haul myself and my bad leg up and down 4 flights of stairs (4 up, 4 down in one roundtrip, done two round trips that have my entire body aching from distributing weight off my bad leg where possible).

Because then I get brainworms about it, and they wriggle relentlessly until I do something that reminds myself of why I shelved it.

Case in point the OG game that Project IC is in the world of would only be feasible as an IF. However I forgot how much I hate fiddling with the NVL GUI in Ren'py until I did it again recently. That luckily helped me shelve that.

Problem is this other old idea is a much simpler, classic VN style game (aka: no dynamic affection system. You make the right choices to get the appropriate ending) and the only things holding me back are costs and the fact the internet has some gross weirdos who I know would be weird about it.

This old game is basically what if your kiddos tried to play matchmaker. Each kid has a different person they ship you with, and there'd be a route focusing on just being a happy parent w/o romance for my acearo peeps. It was born of my love of childcare manhwa. However, I know the internet has too many pedos for me to make that game in peace.

Fucker's been blocked, but as a reminder, my games are very openly queer and diverse on purpose because one of my big mottos is to make a world where anyone of any gender, race, sexuality, and abled-bodied-ness can feel like they could see themselves there. That's quite literally the whole point. Do I get it right 100% of the time? I doubt it, but that's at least my goal.

I had the lovely pleasure of editing for this game, and I do highly recommend it to any of my fans who enjoy older lover interests. Fun fact, the creator of his game also runs the yearly Ossan Jam (formerly Oji Jam), and Zahir & Yukimura's game The Woeful Rose & The Bitter Crow was generated as an entry for that jam's 2023 run!
