Ted couldnât believe he was actually doing this. He was really doing this. He was running away from homeâ With Chara. He was actually leaving the home heâd known all his life, leaving his parents, leaving his brother, leaving them all with his new sister. And he couldnât be happier. Not that he wouldnât miss them, or that he didnât love themâ He loved his family. He really did, even if they didnât love him. But heâd been wanting to run away from them for so long, that to finally have this happen was a dream come true to him.
And it was really all thanks to Chara. She brought out something in him that made him want to keep his chin up. Made him want to put his foot down. Made him have the courage to actually go through with running away. Heâd much rather follow her than his brother or father. Unlike those two, Chara seemed to really care about him, and he didnât want to be separated from her either. Never.
He shot a small smile at her, nodding, âOkay. Yeah! Of course I trust you. Weâre gonna do thisâ Together. Weâll be okay.â
Despite his trust, he was still nervous. Father probably wouldnât send people out to find themâ he probably didnât care that much, but there was always what if? He could hire the best people to do that. Ted didnât really care where they went at this point, as long as they were just some place safe.
one thing about knowing she wasnât going to stay much longer in that home- the being packed up was ignored. no one noticed how her rolling bag was fuller now than when she had first arrived. sheâd been grabbing what money she found, first and foremost, though it had mostly coins that were easy to find. more so, however, hidden under clothes were packages of food. sheâd been thinking this out- at least somewhat. beyond money and food, and the occasional bottle of water, she hadnât thought through anything. just have enough to get to her friend, and go.
but sheâd have never run if Ted hadnât agreed to come with her. it had been another bad home, with more bad guardians, but he wouldnât be moved out like she was. wouldnât have the chance to try again somewhere else. wouldnât have the hope of a better life with a better family...
Chara wasnât going to leave him behind if he wanted to stay with her. she wouldnât just move on without offering for them to press on together.
not like nay home previously had been good, no adults seemed to care.
But sheâd really been banking on finding her other friend, heâd help... without much thought to how he may have scared Teddy, heâd have helped. she trusted him. but he wasnât just within the treeline, like usual. she wasnât as sure thereâd be no search for them, ad Teddy was. even if the adults of that house wouldnât look, it was likely the organization that kept moving her home to home would at least but a search. so while sheâd asked for trust, she wasnât sure how to answer that question, not immediately.
the trees were thin here- maybe thatâs why he didnât show up. he liked a lot of trees, and the shadows they cast. she looked around... going into town was a bad idea. people would see lone children and think something was up. theyâd look suspicious so instead... Â
kids were always underestimated, they simply needed to go someplace that could be considered too tough or tiring for them to attempt someplace like... she pointed, the peak seeming not too terribly far as it cut through the skyline. âwhat about that mountain? people will expect us to go around town, go easy paths. noone will think two kids could hike a mountain by themselves, plus there seems to be plenty of trees on it to we can hide around and make a shelter from. does that sound good?â she still wanted his feedback, though. she knew she could make it, but maybe he didnât feel as capable. or maybe he had another idea- she wasnât going to ignore his thoughts. he was smart, after all.
probably smarter than her, really...
