edit I got lazy on towards the end
?? or wait maybe he's got like an Oden situation
Love this panel so much. The grief and acceptance on Kin's face makes it feel so melancholic despite glorious victory.
Firstly - of course Kin'emon is sitting here all worried about well-being of those of his family who survived! With first panel of Marko and wording of being the one to left alive despite of others, this unspoken guilt/sadness of surviving pretty much implies to Kin as well - he was full on ready to die on this raid after all. He longed for it in a way, until it didn't happen (and until based Usopp yelled at him about live, of course) and now he has to continue living, probably rethinking his path, trying hard to protect those who left and respecting those who passed.
Talking about those who died,
Secondly - him obviously grieving about Izo and Ashura silently and brilliantly shows his immense kindness once again.
Small reminder: Kin'emon saw Izo decades ago, with their long passed and final meeting on raid being pretty much the last time they ever talked. At this point Izo survived and lived a whole life outside of Wano, making him almost a stranger to Kin'emon at this point, and yet... Kin welcomes him back like nothing happened, happily accepts the idea of dying together, and mourns Izo the way he would probably mourn any other member of Red Scabbards.
Another small reminder: we see how Ashura and Kin'emon beef with each other multiple times, both in non-serious and serious situations (with Kin from time to time not even fighting back), but Kin'emon is more than willing to put it all besides because of course none of this made Kin care less about him in any ways and he sees the goods sides of Ashura. The grief for him is here too.
Thirdly, kinda the more vague and theoretical part - the last words are even more sad since, well. We saw a lot of times how Kin starts to cry and get nervous about his family, and how he starts to blame himself for it. For example, when Green Bull attacked Red Scabbards he genuinely immediately started asking for forgiveness for letting it happen and not being around, (but like. Bro you deserve to have time for yourself and wife!!! Noo don't blame yourself) so i do kind of feel this part of not being able to take it anymore can be not only figuratively, but literally implying he's probably doing full seppuku if he lets them down again.
Especially because Kawamatsu (who's lit right there) almost did so when Hiyori left, and Kin'emon himself talks a lot about death (and kinda having suicidal tendencies in general), because he Does Cares A Lot about Kozuki clan and not so much about himself.
This is such a small moment in small chapter, yet it speaks so much! Even more then the way some people struggle to speak ab their main protagonists even when they give it whole episodes or chapters.
And that's all Kin'emon is about. This small and kind of straightforward moments where you clearly see his thoughts and actions and emotions, even if he's a secondary character.
Oh, Kin and big heart of yours...
