This past weekend, we welcomed over 100 families to the 100-Acre Wood here in Intervale for the 9th Annual Believe in Books Literacy Foundation’s Kids Fun Run presented by Memorial Hospital and Story Land!  It was such a wonderful day we acknowledge and thank everyone who helped with the success! First, thank you to all of our participants who joined us on Sunday morning!  We had excellent weather and such a great turnout!  Registration went smoothly and the kiddos had a great time running through the trail system!  We hope everyone had an amazing day at Story Land afterwards! Second, thank you to our presenting supporters, Memorial Hospital and Story Land!  Memorial Hospital provides scholarships to local children and covers the cost of participating in this race and Story Land of course offers free admission to all participants of the Fun Run!  We greatly appreciate our partnership with both! Finally, thank you to our incredible and dedicated volunteers who spent their Sunday morning helping with registration, parking cars, and guiding and cheering on our racers on their individual courses!  Without all of our volunteers, this event would not have been the success it was! All net proceeds from the Fun Run go directly to the BIBLF Summer Bookmobile which will be hitting the road in July!  Thank you so much for your continued support and we will be looking forward to another amazing Fun Run in 2022!!

On Sunday, June 13th, kiddos will be getting ready to get on their marks, get set, and GO for the 2021 Believe in Books Literacy Foundation’s Kids Fun Run presented by Memorial Hospital and Story Land! The race will be held in a new venue, just down the road from Story Land, but participants of the race will still get into the beloved amusement park for FREE that day! Participants will join in the fun at the 100-Acre Wood in Intervale on Sunday morning between 9:00 am and 10:30 am and will be directed to their appropriate start area.  There will be different courses throughout the property for different age groups.  Heats will begin as racers arrive to keep groups to a minimum and to practice social distancing.  Racers will then be able to head over to Story Land with their free pass to enjoy a day at the park!  Parents will need to purchase and reserve their tickets to the park for that day ahead of time as only the participants will receive a free ticket. Registration for this fun-filled day is required in advance and will close on June 1st.  There will be no day-of registration so please be sure to plan ahead.  We are so extremely excited to be able to hold this event in person and cannot wait to see everyone!  As you may remember, for our 8th year we were unable to meet in person for this annual fundraiser.  Typically, a few hundred kids participate so we are looking forward to a safe and exciting Sunday morning the Wood! Are you interested in an amazing volunteering opportunity? Believe in Books Literacy Foundation has a fun-filled event open for volunteers! On Sunday, June 13th BIBLF is hosting the Kids’ Fun Run!  Typically held each year at Story Land, the 2021 event will be held here in the 100-Acre Wood!  This means the race will be slightly different than previous years’ events.  Having the race in the 100-Acre Wood will help increase safety and social distancing but will also require the need for a few more volunteers! Volunteers can either choose to help out with registration, greet our guests as they pull into the property, assist as a parking attendant, or cheer and guide our racers on course!  Volunteers are asked to arrive around 8:00 am on Sunday, June 13th and will be needed until the end of race. Volunteers will receive an event t-shirt and a ticket to Story Land for that day! INTERVALE, NH – After taking a year off, the classic fundraiser for Believe in Books Literacy Foundation, The Kid’s Fun Run presented by Memorial Hospital and Story Land, is back on for 2021 with a few new adjustments! The event will take place on Sunday, June 13th, 2021 and instead of racers running through Story Land, they will be racing right down the road in Intervale in the 100-Acre Wood.  The change in venue will ensure safety for all racers and families while encouraging social distancing.  There will be three separate race courses for the three different age divisions, each with their own start and finish areas to diminish gathering sizes. The Kids’ Fun Run is for children 13 and younger and registration prior to June 1st is required as there will be no day-of registration available.  Racers and families can arrive anytime between 9:00 am and 10:30 am and will be directed to their designated start areas.  Small groups will be sent out at a time to ensure social distancing is available for all participants and once racers cross the finish line, they will receive their race medal, a t-shirt, and a free pass into Story Land for that same day.  Families with racers in multiple age divisions will have plenty of time to make it to each race course.  Believe in Books Literacy Foundation, Memorial Hospital, and Story Land are all excited to be able to offer this event to the community for 2021.  Scholarships are available for residents of SAU 9, 13, 20, 3 and MSAD 72 school districts. The Kids’ Fun Run will begin promptly at 9:00 am with registration opening up in the back parking lot at 8:15 am.  All registrants will receive an event t-shirt, a race medal, and a free pass into Story Land to be used that day! Story Land donates all of the tickets while Memorial Hospital provides scholarships for local children to participate in this annual event.  Kids in school districts SAU 9, 13, 20, 3 & MSAD 72 will have their registration fee covered by Memorial Hospital, so they can race for free! When registering, parents can enter the code: MHSCHOLAR to receive the scholarship. We get asked a lot how we are able to accomplish everything we do. From mailing out baby books, giving out brand new books to over 60 preschool classrooms five times a school year, to lending out bookbags filled with books, and everything in between takes time and of course, money.  So how do we raise all of the funds it takes to run a literacy foundation and give out as many free books as we do? We fundraise of course! We have two amazing fundraisers coming up in September and we hope you consider joining us for them!  Both of these fundraisers not only help us raise money for a few of our specific literacy programs, but they are also a ton of fun and family friendly! First up, on Monday, September 2nd, join us for BIBLF’s Kids’ Fun Run presented by Memorial Hospital and Story Land.  The Fun Run begins promptly at 9:00 am at Story Land in Glen, NH where kids 13 and under will race through the amusement park.  Registration for all kids is only $10 and each participant receives an event t-shirt, a race medal, and free pass into Story Land for that day! Last year approximately 380 kids ran the event and we are hoping for even more for our 7th anniversary of the event! Net proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the BIBLF Bookbag Program. At the end of the month, we look forward to our 100-Acre Challenge on Saturday, September 28th.  This 5K obstacle adventure course will be bigger and crazier than ever before!  For kids 12 and under there will be a Mini Acre Challenge featuring mini obstacles! There is a new twist in the registration process this year, when you register as an individual or a team, you will not have to pay at the time of sign-up if you choose.  Each participant/team has the opportunity to fundraise for their registration fees.  There will be prizes for the winners of the obstacle course in all categories but there will also be prizes for the highest fundraiser in each category! The fun isn’t only for the participants this year as there will be live music throughout the day from local favorites, Shark Martin, as well as food trucks, bouncy houses, and Home Depot on site doing crafts for the little ones. All net proceeds of this fundraiser will go towards the BIBLF Outreach Reading Program. This past Monday was one of our absolute favorite days of the year so far!  The Believe in Books Literacy Foundation’s 6th annual Kids’ Fun Run presented by Memorial Hospital and Story Land occurred on Monday, September 3rd.  Volunteer check-in opened at 7:30 am and 48 amazing volunteers came to help with this major fundraiser. Some volunteers registered kids to participate in the run while others were stationed inside Story Land to help direct and cheer on the racers throughout the courses.  BIBLF staff and volunteers registered 382 kids between 8:15 am and the start of the runs at 9:00 am.  After kids were registered, they could visit the Believe in Books Literacy Foundation’s Bookmobile, pick out a free book, and visit with some characters from the 100-Acre Wood.  Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, and even Rabbit made appearances throughout the morning.  Sharon Novak played some of her extremely fun children’s music along with Dennis the Dino! The Kids’ Fun Run started promptly at 9:00 am with the 9 to 13-year-olds taking to the start line!  The big kids ran the perimeter of Story Land while the toddlers lined up for their start.  The toddler trot was a run around the pond in front of the Bamboo Chutes.  After the toddlers finished, the 5 and 6-year-olds took off and finally the 7 and 8-year-olds got to finally take their turn.  Daniel Tiger and Katrina Kittycat were on the course to cheer on the kids while Tinker Bell, Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood were at the finish line, handing out medals to all of the participants along with staff and providers from Memorial Hospital! All participants of the event received a free ticket into Story Land for the remainder of the day! Kids also had the opportunity to enjoy the Memorial Hospital smoothie bike once inside the park!  Believe in Books Literacy Foundation raised over $4,500 for their Books from Birth Program.
