In which Phainon is excited to show his boyfriend his hometown, Anaxa has engaged in a mutual hating competition with the Archfae of Romance and Mydei slowly engages in a psychological horror as he discovers more about himself and the forces acting around him. Hyacine just wants everyone to be responsible and stay safe. Castorice is happy to reunite with her sister.
Basically most of the Amphoreous cast are Fae and the rest are humans. Mydei and his friend group decide to journey to and through the faewilds for fun. Anaxa is playing chaperone and pretty much five steps in they all turn to Phainon who dropped his glamour upon re-entering his home realm. Phainon is sheepish and Anaxa really wants to shoot him with an iron bullet.
They explore across the Faewild, visiting different domains and learning about them. Unlike 99% of humans who go tot he faewild they aren’t stupid, made multiple lists of all the rules, and have ways to easily leave to get more food when their provisions run low, as well as ways to test for tampering.
Plot takes an abrupt shift in tone when, for romance reasons, Khaslana and Mydei want to exchange true names. Except when Mydei gives his, Khaslana tells him that, “Mydei” isn’t his true name. Mydei doesnt know his own true name, which means that out there is a fae that owns his true name.
The plot has thickened and now they’re trying to get Mydei’s name back and accidentally uncover a conspiracy concerning the entire court of Strife and Mydei’s entire life. With the help of Archfae of trickery Cipher, Archfae of Death Polyxia, and a group of five Kremnoan Fae, they hunt down the truth.
Mydei is a Kremnoan Fae, and they need to get his name back by travelling to the realm of the dead with Polyxia’s blessing to get his name back from the late Gorgo, who they only find out once there is Mydei’s mother.
Gorgo had taken Mydei’s name from him when he was young to protect him from Eurypon. Mydei was sent to the human realm and forced into mortal guise to hide him. He was also forced to forget his true nature. Among the humans he was safe to grow up. Mydei gets to say goodbye to his mother and she gives him his true name back. Mydeimos. For the first time he gets back full connection to his magic, and can take down the glamour he has been subconsciously casting on himself his entire life.
And then they go kill Eurypon. And Mydeimos ascends to become the archfae of Strife. And then dips back to the mortal world because fuck that Hephaestion you’re in charge now.
There’s a romance subplot but I’m slowly realising all my fic ideas are turning into psychological horror I’m gonna post about my Trans Phainon x genderfluid Mydei next.
