#kid stan

This does sound exactly like something Stan would get wrapped up in. Tries to con or steal from the wrong person, then tries to weasel out of the consequences in a typical Stan fashion, and gets hit with a "If you're going to be so childish, lets make the rest of you match" curse.

I can very easily see it going as:

Stan goes to steal as a kid, gets caught, lies about his parents, it gets found out he's living in 'his dad's' car, blurts out that his dad will be back any day now for sure! (he is really hoping the curse breaks sooner rather than later. It does not). Police search the car, narrow down this kids "dad" as one Stanley Pines, its assumed he's either ran off or dead in a ditch, and now its time to ship this unruly kid off to his closest relative while the "investigation" is ongoing (The police aren't looking, they think he's dead. Stan's not expecting them to find anyone anyway).

But Ford believes them. He has to believe them, because Stanley can't be dead. Stanley can't be dead, because Fords still mad at him, and they haven't made up yet, and so until that happens, Stan's not dead. He's just... being immature! He got a kid (and I'm gonna say there's no way Stanley panic names himself Stanley Stanford Pines. This is Stan. The police put pressure on his real name not being Stid (Stan Kid) and he blurt out his "real" name. Which is some horrible butchering of Stanley. Like Starry (Stan-Larry), or Stansy) and Stanley didn't want to put in the work to take care of him, so he dumped him on Ford!

(Never mind that Starry was picked up in New Mexico and dropped off by the police and is moderately well taken care of for 9ish (and how long has Ford been an uncle? When did that happen? Why didn't Stan tell him?) and found with Stanley's car and things and there's no way Stanley would leave his kid, not like that not-)

So this is just temporary! A temporary adjustment to Fords, one that will be leaving as soon as they locate Stanley, and Ford wrings his brothers life about the horrible way Ford learned he had a nephew, and all the stress it caused him!

This does not help Stan's feelings about the whole thing. He's already dying of embarrassment about being dragged to Fords house, and now his brother is making it clear that if Stan really did have a kid, he wouldn't want to take care of them long term. Stan's getting shoved in the attic with his measly bag of things he managed to steal before getting caught (Ford sees all these new kids clothes and things, sees his brothers older worn things, and makes incorrect but reasonable assumptions about how much Stan takes care of his son). Ford makes it clear that he shouldn't get comfortable, but doesn't explain his thought process of 'Because your dad is going to come get you soon', just says 'Don't make yourself too comfortable.' and leaves it at that.

Cue the worst bonding two brothers in this situation can have. Fords dying to get to know his nephew, but stuck with the "Stanley will be here any day to come get him, so I shouldn't get too attached because obviously Stanley didn't want me to know about or have anything to do with him and this is another thing I'm going to be mad about" and "I can't let one child get in the way of my work, regardless of relation". Meanwhile Stan's in a weird spot of "this is my twin brother who thinks im my own son" and "Ford doesn't want me around. I'm just being a burden".

Ford can't help but grumble about Stanley from time to time, but isn't going to rant about him in front of his own son, but Stan's also a grown man who picks up on all of Fords thoughts about him and it makes his mood worse. They spend like, two or three weeks at each others throats, snipping at each other and trying and failing to communicate in any capacity, while Stan's also trying to run away because he Does Not Want To Be Here.

I'm thinking part of what helps Ford ease up is Stan's habits he's picked up on the road (Stealing is a game to get free food! Always have food hidden for emergencies! Hide things you don't want taken! A shirt can last a while if you know how to wear it, because washing things reliably can be tricky! Being way too eager to shower for a kid, money anxiety, etc), and the thought of what would lead a kid to thinking like that hurts his heart. Ford wants to be mad at his brother for hiding a whole nephew but he finds it harder to feel mad when he's spending time with his brothers son, who reminds him so much of Stanley its painful.

This does not help Stan though, because Stan is not Stan's son. He's Stan, Fords brother, and the rouse was a panic lie, but now its spiraling out of control. His relationship with Ford is better than its ever been sure, but Ford's starting to act like his parent/guardian, not his bro, and the lie is coloring all of their interactions.

But God Forbid Stan tell the truth. He made this hole and he will die in it. Just long enough to figure out how to break the curse or figure out where Ford put the keys to his car so he can run away and get back to getting a million dollars.

I could see it ending several ways.

Stan starts talking to himself and gets overheard by Ford, Stan deciding to be mature about something and it breaks the curse, the curse overtakes him, and Stan forgets he was an adult to begin with to name a few.
