When Khufra first took care of you since your mother's death, he was the most amazing father you could ask for.

Breakfast in bed, training outside in the sandy surroundings, bathing you in cold water— and more.

He made you feel like royalty— royalty that you took for granted... At least, that's what you thought.

The news of an orphan spread across the helpers, and eventually reached yours. A female orphan, that Khufra adopted.

At first, you were overjoyed!— A new sister won't be so bad! You'll take care of her, like your father did to you!

But oh... you were so wrong..

The moment Khufra introduced you to Esmeralda, his fatherly attitude shifted into the most sweetest— to the coldest in the matter of just an hour.

You were so heartbroken when he ditched you in the desert— heartbroken when you saw them dining together in the dinner table. Where you once sat together as well..

When you remembered how he treated you, you brushed off the ache in your chest and talked to your; now sister!

Esmeralda was the sweetest after realizing she was older than you, by a day. And even gave you rare flowers from the desert— it was plucked off gracefully, prior to the walk you all had together.

You saw a sister figure in her, and you would understand how Khufra changed so drastically. Well... you would.

After a few months have gone by— some hurtful words and obvious annoyance was beggining to shine from your father.

You couldn't understand why.. Why was he becoming like that? That's not the father you knew... right?

But. Years had gone and passed, and Khufra's abuse and favoritism was becoming unbearable to you. You had no comfort— Esmeralda was busy doing something with your father all day in a certain time of the months.

You decided yourself that you should investigate—

You asked, and asked, and asked, until you broke something. Triggered something in him that made your breathing become staggered.

"Enough! Shut up you useless brat! Esmeralda is more suitable to be my child, than you. A killer!"

Tears pooled around the tips of your eyes, and you blinked, a few tears falling down your cheeks.

"You killed my wife ever since you came into this world! What did you do to help me conquer the world? Nothing!"

Your knees were failing to hold you anymore as the door behind him slowly opened.

"These past few years that Esmeralda has been with me, she made me grow stronger! Stronger than you ever had made me!"

Finally, a slap. A harsh, slap that made you tear up and stumble behind you. Your heart was racing, and your mind was formulating all sorts of emotions at once—

You were useless.

A killer.

A burden.

Nothing.

Khufra's heart has always been cold. Colder than any icebergs in this hot, windy desert. He put up an act in hopes of finding potential in you. But he was too impatient. And shoved you off his priority list after finding Esmeralda.

The one and only. She was standing, watching the scene unfold, and watching you. Her sibling, get shouted at by her adoptive father.

After Khufra told you to leave immediately, you did just that. Legs shaking while running to your sorry excuse of a room.

Esmeralda followed shortly after, hesitating to knock after hearing the soft sniffles from behind the door. That's how she decided to leave you alone for the night.

Well... that night... that night showed you a chance of escaping.

You took it without a second thought.
