NOW FOR MY SPECULATIVE NOTES:

Vanitas used as another example of how love and friendship can redeem even the worst of people

However, while Axel/Lea was an example of immediate change, Vanitas would be an example of how redemption takes time and progress isn't linear.

he'd have moment where he falls back on old habits and destructive ways of thinking, but he is trying. Love and Friendship are needed, but so does patience.

Also, Vanitas would need help in establishing his own autonomy and personhood; since he's been denied the chance to grow into his own, both by others and himself.

He'd also be an example of how Darkness doesn't have to be evil, just like how the Masters of Masters is showing those aligned with Light aren't, inherently, good.

If you combine this, with my speculative notes on Baldr, it would be interesting to have him interact with other "dark halves". With Baldr specifically, someone who could have lived a normal life, it would be a horrific reflection on what he used to/could have been if he stayed angry and cast out.

his living conditions are based on Tokoyo kids, he resides in areas like Nonbei Yokocho

his fashion is based on Onii & Kurofuku Kei

his netted shirt is based on both a spider-web, but also shattered glass; the center is a a heart

his boots are from the Organization XIII uniform that have been worn down to DEATH; they are staying together with bandages, duct-tape, and a dream.

his skirt is based on his dark suit.

scars are from training with Xehanort, but also streets fights since the rules of the Quadratum are strange and summoning his Keyblade might make things worse.

his mask and visor are a spin on his helmet, as his helmet is broke and cannot be fixed.

the plaid jacket is a representation of his ties to Sora; "We are brothers who, together, make a greater whole."

His eyes are brown with red undertones! Xehanort's Yellow + Sora's Blue + his original red = Brown
