Bhagat Kabeer ji’s doha “kal kare so aj kar, aj kare so ab,” wasn’t actually about procrastinating or being active. That’s the obvious translation of the doha. However, I just realized the meaning of the doha was much more than that. Instead of holding off your thoughts, tasks, and deeds for tomorrow do it now because what if you don’t have a tomorrow? No ones tomorrow is promised. We dream of a future, no one has seen it. So why leave things undone if you don’t even know tomorrow is happening. Life as we know it becomes a daily task for many people as they go about their same old routines. But my friends, LIVE your today. Don’t wait for that tomorrow, its an illusion. Gurbani says this world is a “magic show”, thus don’t fall for the worldly fake illusions. Pray, live, laugh, do hard work, remember Him with each breath, and give back to the community as much as you can. Don’t cage your inner phoenix, let it live, be thoughtful and thoughtless at the same time (think about it) and stop dwelling in the future. -k.g

They say it is quite easy to just go somewhere, you know like grab the car and just go. But is it that easy? I wonder. Everyday, I wake up with the same hope I went to sleep with. That tomorrow (today) will be the day the sun shines the brightest, but I go to sleep praying that for the next day. For how long am I to continue this? I am trapped in my own shoes, in front of my own door with a heart that wants to venture but limbs that cannot move. Funny are His ways, we soar in our dreams only to be cuffed by the day. The only hope I live by is to silently wait for my turn, when will the clock strike right....only He knows. Do I have faith in His plans? Yes.
