How about doing a cult au where reader is easily flusters and shy, and when their really embarrassed they turn into a small cute animal, I wonder how they react to that! Or reader can heal any wound, but it makes them really tired or have headaches that can last depending how bad the wound is. Or imposter au the reader is really laidback and cool even after all they went through and easily forgives them. Or soft cult au where reader doesn't see the others as servants, but as friends.
How is it that the gods of entire nations canât catch a single bunny rabbit?
You couldnât help but blush and curl in on yourself as Ei unabashedly praised your kindness. Venti insisted on writing poems and songs all about your greatness. Zhongi refused to leave your side
âIt was nothing,â you mumbled but the archons wouldnât allow such slander to be said about their creator, not even if it was coming from yourself.
You shrank until the world reflected how you felt, big and intimidating. You craved the comfort of warmth, your friendsâ arms would be a nice comfort, but of all the people towering above you, they made you feel the most shy.
It didnât take long for them to notice that their great leader had vanished.
____
You had started to notice they had gotten a bit more⌠aggressiveâ to say the leastâ in their methods of trying to capture you. Zhongli summoned his pillars of stone, that pulsed and shook the ground, to the point that you might as well have been floating in the air with how violently the ground pulsed and pushed you around. Venti summoned a full tornado that you feared would have ripped you apart and thrown you into Celestia if you had been a normal human. Ei mobilized her entire army as well as somehow managed to convince the members of the resistance from Watatsumi to take part in their search and hunt for you.
Nahida was the most successful out of them all, but you knew her tricks. You wouldnât let her keep you trapped in a dream. She may have been the most gentle and understanding, but you could see she shared the same insane look as the rest of the archons.
The Tsaritsa was the most difficult to evade of them all, truly the most terrifying. As the goddess of love, she can feel every beating heart, whisper to them, and enlighten them. You sprinted on four legs, then flew on two wings, then swam as fast as you could. It was no use. Sheâs too powerful. Getting trapped in a blizzard in her domain was just barely worse than being on land being chased by Morax.
You can only run for so long, little rabbit. Your followers will catch you soon. They only see this as a test of faith, test of determination and devolution. Theyâve all agreed that whoever catches you first will end up your most favored. Theyâre more and more motivated by their competitiveness and need to be loved by you.
Healer Reader:
Strike to kill. Do not let the creator know of the slaughter.
The archons insist that you reserve your healing powers. That no one, not even them are worthy of being healed by you, especially considering that it would mean you sacrificing your own well-being for that person.
Imagine their alarm when they find you gasping, bleeding, as you heal a lowly slime. They drag you away. Barely able to hide their jealousy of the puny monster for taking your attention and taking advantage of your powers.
Perhaps if they canât stop you from using them, then instead they can redirect them to purposes truly worthy of your prowess.
Venti come to you, a few scratches and cuts sheepishly saying he tripping into some bushes in wolvendom picking some wolfehook berries for you. You smile softly and gently cup his cheek, swiping your thumb over skin thatâs already smoothed over.
There. All better.
âThank you so much, your diviness!â
You laugh and shake your head at the name. When will they just use your regular name?
âââââââââââ
Zhongli comes to you one night, poorly hiding his limp. He jokes that he must be getting old as he tripped on his way up the stairs to your room.
âPlease, donât waste your powers on me. Iâd hate to burden you with unnecessary pain, great one.â
Zhongli, pleaseâŚ
You donât have to say anything more as he relents, allowing you to heal his throbbing ankle.
He only feels a shred of regret when he sees you wince.
He dotes and fusses over you as soon as heâs healed. Insisting that you lay in bed and let him take care of anything and everything for you, as now youâre the one injured.
Heâs excessive and overbearing.
Itâs amusing to watch him buzz about like a bee.
ââââââââ
You almost donât recognize Ei when you find her out in the forest, covered in blood and monster dust. Sheâs completely unhurt. What monster could really contest her? But she isnât immune to fatigue. She hasnât slept much since you left to visit the other archons, eagerly awaiting your return to Inazuma.
You take her hand and almost collapse.
Ei⌠how long have you been awake? How long have you been fighting?
âHm⌠not long. About a week now, I think?â
You donât even have it in you to make your eyes go wide. Just leaning on her and frowning.
You need to take care of yourself Ei.
âAh⌠you didnât need to use your healing powers on me, Divinity. Letâs go back to the palace. Iâll carry you.â
You donât protest. You neither have the strength nor mental will power to do so. You simple let her wrap her strong arms around your body and take off running through the trees and up and down the hills. She slows when you tug at her dress and tell her that the speed is making you dizzy.
You blush bright red, and tell Ei she can put you down now. Youâre not sure you want people seeing you be carried by the goddess. You may be exhausted, but you humiliation will win out.
Of course this is the one time she doesnât listen to your commands. Simply shaking her head and telling you that she doesnât want to risk making your condition worse.
You hide your face in her dress and groan.
âDo you feel worse? Perhaps I will stop to buy you some herbsâ
You shake your head. How much worse can this get?
ââââââââââ
Nahida suffers from an aching heart. Why canât she remember what she misses so dearly? Why can she find nothing that can explain this void in her heart, like a window with a hole in it, sharp shards scraping at anyone who dares try reaching in to search beyond it.
You have to keep her in your arms, continuously using your powers to ease the pain. It hurts so much. It must be so hard for her to deal with it everyday. You want to do everything you can to help her.
Surprisingly itâs her that has to convince you to let her go, promising that sheâll be okay. Saying that if you canât keep hurting yourself for her sake. And giving you her best smile when you insist that you can.
âIâll be okay, I promise. Iâm just happy I get to be with my creator. Thatâs enough to heal me, without any powers needed.â
Laidback/Soft reader (decided to combine them because i felt they fit well together)
Your casualness honestly doubles the archonsâ stress levels.
They canât seem to convince you that itâs beneath you to associate yourself with the humans and monsters. But you wonât listen.
You go climbing and gliding with Amber. Drinking with Kaeya and Rosaria (supervised by Diluc), and Beidou when youâre in Liyue. You insist that Jean takes you out, dragging her to the great tree and having her tell you Vanessaâs tale again and again. Helping Lisa carry her many heavy books, and insisting Eula teach you how to dance, even after you twisted your ankle.
You forgive them all so easily. You donât take offense to Keqingâs standoff-ish attitude and skepticism, which ends up working in your favor as she comes around to believing you to be the ideal form of god. One that doesnât not try to reach beyond their means, though perhaps a bit lazy in her mind.
You nearly give Zhongli a heart attack when you tell him youâre going with Yelan down into the Chasm. He tries to insist on going with you, ending up secretly trailing behind as you and Alatus and Yelan descend into the depths purely because you insisted on it.
(You take advantage of your title quite a bit, using it to get more than you probably deserve. You canât help it, you always wanted to travel around Tevyat and now you can! But only if you tell your followers that youâre going to do it. If you ask, theyâll always tell you no. âItâs for your safetyâ they insist. But you donât want to cower away. Youâre going to see every corner of this world, if itâs the last thing you do).
Ei travels with you. Follows you, true to her name, like a shadow. She protects you from the lighting on the other isles. Technically she doesnât need to fight the Nobushi, even they praise and honor your name, but she does. She will cut them down faster than you can blink, even at 100 yards away. Only if you tell her not to, will she stop her spree. But you wonât be able to convince her to not attack the monsters like the hilichurls and abyss hounds. They donât deserve to be in your presence.

heyo how does a headcanon of our KH boys sound but get thisâŚin a our dining table bl version? :)
I love my boys and I love Our Dining Table...I'm listening, I'm listening đ (I also used the manga to write this headcanon and it's long so it'll be under the cut). I hope you like it!
Itâs a rather quiet and peaceful day in Jing City as Chief Jiang Yuelou was out on patrol, just enjoying the sunshine when something (or someone) slammed into him, making him look down to see a little girl around the age five staring up at him with wide eyes
âOhâŚhelloâ
He then slowly knelt down so that he was eye-level with her
âAre you lost?â
The little girl shook her head
âNo. Iâm just waiting for my gegeâ
Jiang Yuelou hummed, just as a young man dressed in a cream three-piece suit ran over to them, a doctorâs bag in his hand
âKeying! What have I told you about running off?!â
He then took her by the hand before he looked at Jiang Yuelou apologetically
âIâm so sorryâ
Jiang Yuelou shook his head as he pushed himself to his feet
âNo, noâŚitâs alright. She didnât hurt meâ
The young man smiled slightly and nodded before he looked down at Keying
âCome on, letâs goâ
Keying nodded before they began to walk away, Keying turning to wave goodbye to Jiang Yuelou before she turned her attention to the young man, whom Jiang Yuelou assumed was her brother, and began talking happily, the young man smiling fondly in reply
Jiang Yuelou watched the two for a moment before he smiled and continued on his patrol
Well that wasâŚnice
The next day, when Jiang Yuelou was on patrol again, the little girl, Keying if he remembered her name correctly, ran up to him, a bright smile on her face
âMr. Policeman!â
Jiang Yuelou looked at her in surprise
âHow did you know Iâm a police officer?â
Keying smiled
âI can just tellâ
Jiang Yuelou chuckled as he knelt before her
âClever little girl, arenât you?â
Just then, the young man walked over them and sighed softly
âKeyingâŚâ
He then looked at Jiang Yuelou and smiled apologetically
âIâm sorry, Mr.ââ
Jiang Yuelou smiled as he pushed himself to his feet
âJiang Yuelou. Chief Jiang Yuelouâ
The young man smiled
âDr. Chen Yuzhiâ
Jiang Yuelou hummed
âDr. Chenâ
He then looked at him
âMy lunch break is in a little bitâŚwould you two like to join me for lunch?â
Chen Yuzhiâs eyes widened before he shook his head
âSorryâŚI have a house call to make in a momentâ
Jiang Yuelou nodded
âI understandâ
âButââ
Jiang Yuelou raised an eyebrow
âBut?â
Chen Yuzhi smiled
âWould dinner be alright?â
Jiang Yuelou looked at him in surprise before he smiled and nodded
âDinner sounds great. Shall I meet youâŚat your clinic when Iâm finished with work?â
Chen Yuzhi nodded
âThat sounds goodâ
He then looked down at Keying and held out his hand
âCome on, Keyingâ
Keying nodded and took his hand before she looked at Jiang Yuelou and grinned
âBye Mr. Policeman!â
Jiang Yuelou smiled softly and dipped his head
âBye Keyingâ
He then watched them walk away before he chuckled softly; he was looking forward to eating dinner with the two of them
Later that evening, after he finished work, Jiang Yuelou headed out of the police department and through the streets, searching for Chen Yuzhiâs clinic when he soon found the sign âYuzhi Hallâ above one of the street-front stores, causing him to smile slightly
âAhâŚfound youâ
He then walked over to the clinic, just as Chen Yuzhi and Keying were exiting, Keying smiling brightly when she saw him
âChief Jiang!â
At her shout, Chen Yuzhi turned and smiled slightly
âDid you just get here?â
Jiang Yuelou nodded
âYeah. Perfect timing, huh?â
Chen Yuzhi laughed and nodded
âYeahâ
After he locked up, he took Keyingâs hand before he looked at Jiang Yuelou
âShall we go?â
Jiang Yuelou nodded before he, Chen Yuzhi, and Keying walked away from Chen Yuzhiâs clinic, the three of them walking through the quiet streets of Jing City until they came upon a wonton stand, much to Jiang Yuelouâs surprise
âOh. You come here too?â
Chen Yuzhi looked over at him in surprise
âYou come here?â
Jiang Yuelou nodded as he motioned to a house not too far from the wonton stand
âItâs not too far from my house so itâs easy to come to after workâ
Chen Yuzhiâs eyes widened before he laughed
âI didnât realize we lived so close to each otherâ
Jiang Yuelou blinked in surprise before he laughed
âWhat a coincidenceâ
He then motioned to the wonton stand
âShall we?â
Chen Yuzhi nodded before the three of them sat down at one of the tables, Jiang Yuelou ordering for all of them
When the food arrived, they ate in silence and after they finished, Jiang Yuelou looked at Chen Yuzhi and smiled
âHow about next time we have dinner at my house?â
Chen Yuzhi looked at him in surprise as Keying reached over and gave his coat sleeve a tug
âCan we, gege?â
Chen Yuzhi looked over at her before he looked at Jiang Yuelou and nodded
âSure. Thatâd be niceâ
Jiang Yuelou grinned
âGreatâ
The next time Jiang Yuelou, Chen Yuzhi, and Keying got together for dinner, Jiang Yuelou invited Chen Yuzhi and Keying over to his house, Keying immediately enamored with his cat
âYou can go play with him, Iâll go make dinnerâ
Keying nodded and went to go play with the cat while Chen Yuzhi followed Jiang Yuelou into the kitchen
âIs there anything I can help with?â
Jiang Yuelou looked over at him and laughed, shaking his head
âYouâre a guest, Iâm not going to make you cookâ
Chen Yuzhi frowned
âAre you sure?â
Jiang Yuelou nodded
âYes, yes. Now go relax with your sister, dinner should be done soonâ
Chen Yuzhi huffed before he nodded and turned, heading out of the kitchen as Jiang Yuelou began to prepare dinner
About an hour or so later, Jiang Yuelou brought out the dishes and placed them on the table before he looked over at Keying and Chen Yuzhi
âDinnerâs readyâ
Keying and Chen Yuzhi looked over at him before they both headed over to the table, Chen Yuzhiâs eyes widening at the spread
âThis looks incredible!â
Jiang Yuelou smiled and waved his hand
âThis is nothing, just something I like to make every now and thenâ
Chen Yuzhi looked over at him and smiled
âWell, it looks and smells incredible. Thank you for inviting usâ
Jiang Yuelouâs eyes widened before he nodded
âOf course. Shall we eat?â
Keying and Chen Yuzhi nodded, all of them beginning to eat what Jiang Yuelou made, Keying letting out a happy hum as she did a little dance in her seat
âYummy!â
Chen Yuzhi nodded
âIt is really good, Jiang Yuelouâ
Jiang Yuelou smiled softly
âIâm glad you like itâ
Keying then looked at him
âWill you teach me how to make this, gege?â
Jiang Yuelou looked at her in shock before he looked over at Chen Yuzhi
âUmââ
Chen Yuzhi smiled
âIâm okay with it. But only if you areâ
Jiang Yuelou nodded
âNo, no, I am, itâs justâŚâ
He then paused before he looked at Keying and smiled
âSureâ
After dinner, as Chen Yuzhi was helping Jiang Yuelou clean up, Jiang Yuelou cleared his throat
âIâmâŚglad you both liked dinnerâ
Chen Yuzhi smiled
âIt was really goodâ
Jiang Yuelou smiled
âIâm gladâ
His smile then turned sad
âIt was my motherâs recipe. What we had for dinner tonight. I havenâtâŚmade it in years butâŚI wanted to impress you two andâŚâ
Chen Yuzhi looked at him before he reached out and placed a gentle hand on his arm
âWe were both very impressedâ
Jiang Yuelou nodded
âIâm gladâ
He then laughed weakly
âMaking dinner tonightâŚI felt like I was a kid again, making dinner with my mother. It wasâŚniceâ
Chen Yuzhi was quiet before he gave his arm a squeeze
âTell me about her sometime?â
Jiang Yuelou blinked and looked over at him in shock before he nodded
âOkayâ
Chen Yuzhi then tilted his head
âWhen should we come over for cooking lessons?â
Jiang Yuelou blinked again before he laughed
âUmâŚhow about next weekend?â
Chen Yuzhi smiled and nodded
âOkayâ
The next weekend, Chen Yuzhi and Keying came over for their âcookingâ lesson, Chen Yuzhi mainly observing while Jiang Yuelou taught Keying how to make the dumplings and the noddle dish his mother used to make for him when he was younger
After their lesson, they ate the finished dishes, Jiang Yuelou smiling softly
âItâs good for your first attemptâ
Chen Yuzhi nodded
âIt is good. Well done, A-Yingâ
Keying beamed, happy to be praised as Chen Yuzhi looked over at Jiang Yuelou
âDo you want to come over to our house next time and we can teach you a recipe?â
Jiang Yuelou looked at him in surprise before he laughed
âIâd love toâ
After that, it justâŚsort of became a thing
Every other weekend, Jiang Yuelou or Chen Yuzhi and Keying would head over to the otherâs house and learn a new recipe from the other before eating it for either lunch or dinner
And sometimes instead of going to the otherâs house for dinner, they would just eat dinner at the wonton stand, but that was still enjoyable because they were together
After hanging out with each other for a while, everyone began to notice a difference in the two menâŚthe other police officers noticed that Jiang Yuelou smiled more, he whistled while walking through the police departmentâŚhe just seemed happier
And as for Chen Yuzhi, well, he always smiled and was relatively happy but to his patients he just seemedâŚbrighter
Then one day, as Jiang Yuelou was out doing patrol, he noticed Chen Yuzhi heading out, but to his surprise, Keying wasnât with him
âChen Yuzhi!â
At his name, Chen Yuzhi looked up and when he saw Jiang Yuelou coming towards him, he smiled slightly
âJiang Yuelouâ
Jiang Yuelou then tilted his head
âNo Keying today?â
Chen Yuzhi shook her head
âSheâs not feeling well. I left her at home and Iâm trying to finish up this house call quickly so that I can go home and look after herâ
Jiang Yuelou hummed
âWhy donât I go?â
Chen Yuzhi looked at him with wide eyes
âI couldnât ask youââ
Jiang Yuelou shook his head
âI donât mindâ
Chen Yuzhi smiled and dipped his head
âThank you. Reallyâ
Jiang Yuelou nodded
âOf courseâ
Chen Yuzhi smiled again before he reached into his pocket and took out his keys, carefully removing one of them from his keychain before he handed it to Jiang Yuelou
âHere. So you can get into the houseâ
Jiang Yuelou nodded
âThank youâ
Chen Yuzhi smiled and shook his head
âNo, thank youâ
He then continued on his way, Jiang Yuelou turning to watch him leave before he continued on with his patrol, making his way towards Chen Yuzhiâs house
When he arrived at the house, he unlocked the gate and pushed it open before he stepped inside, closing it behind him before he made his way through the courtyard and into the house, immediately noticing Keying resting on the couch
At the sight of her, he smiled softly and walked over to her, quietly kneeling beside her
âKeying?â
At her name, Keying weakly opened an eye and when she saw him, she smiled weakly
âGegeâ
Jiang Yuelouâs smile widened
âHey. How are you feeling?â
Keying shook her head
âIckyâ
Jiang Yuelou hummed before he reached out and gently placed the back of his hand to her forehead, humming softly
âYou feel warmâŚlet me go make you somethingâ
Keying nodded before she shut her eyes, Jiang Yuelou gently petting her hair before he pushed himself to his feet and headed to the kitchen to make her something warm and comforting to hopefully help her feel better
After he made her a simple bowl of congee, Jiang Yuelou walked back out into the living room and knelt before Keying, gently shaking her shoulder
âKeying. Come on, letâs eat a littleâ
Keying opened her eyes and looked at him before she nodded and slowly sat up, Jiang Yuelou pushing himself to his feet before he sat beside her, placing the bowl of congee in her hands
âCan you hold it or do you want me to hold it?â
Keying shook her head
âI can do itâ
Jiang Yuelou nodded and watched as she took careful and small bites, as if she didnât want to make herself sick or throw up
âYou donât have to eat all of it, but I just want you to have something in your stomachâ
Keying nodded as she continued to eat, still taking small bites, before she put the bowl down
âIâm fullâ
Jiang Yuelou nodded
âOkayâ
Keying then let out a yawn before she leaned against him, causing him to look down at her in surprise before he chuckled softly and reached over, gently petting her hair, just as Chen Yuzhi stepped into the house
âSorry Iâm lateâ
Jiang Yuelou looked at him and shook his head
âDonât apologizeâ
Chen Yuzhi then looked at Keying and smiled softly before he walked over to them and carefully scooped Keying into his arms, pressing a gentle kiss to her hair before he looked at Jiang Yuelou
âIâm going to go put her downâ
Jiang Yuelou nodded, Chen Yuzhi nodding in reply before he headed to Keyingâs bedroom to lay her down while Jiang Yuelou cleaned up
After he had cleaned up and Chen Yuzhi had put Keying down for a nap, they both walked over to the couch, neither man saying anything before Chen Yuzhi let out a soft sigh
âThank you, Jiang Yuelou, reallyâ
Jiang Yuelou looked over at him before he shook his head
âItâs not a problemâ
Chen Yuzhi then laughed softly
âItâs justâŚitâs been just us for so long that Iâve forgotten what itâs like toâŚhave a support system. And someone to turn to when times getâŚhardâ
Jiang Yuelou frowned
âItâs just been you two?â
Chen Yuzhi looked over at him and nodded
âMm. Our parents died when Keying was young, soâŚIâve been raising her all by myselfâ
Jiang Yuelou looked at him in shock
âBy yourself? Without any help?â
Chen Yuzhi nodded
âYes, which is why Iâm really grateful to you. Not just for looking out for Keying but forâŚbeing willing to eat dinner or lunch with us and justâŚspend time with us. Itâs niceâŚfor it to not just always be usâ
Jiang Yuelou was quiet before he smiled slightly
âIâm grateful to you and Keying as wellâŚI havenât known what itâs like to share a meal with someone in a very long timeâ
Chen Yuzhi frowned
âWhat do you mean?â
Jiang Yuelou smiled sadly
âWellâŚlike you, my parents are no longer around. My mother left when I was eleven and my dad died when I was twelve. SoâŚIâve been on my own for a whileâ
Chen Yuzhi gasped softly
âJiang Yuelouâ
Jiang Yuelou shook his head
âItâs okayâ
He then laughed
âYou know whatâs funny? I never noticed it, but after spending time with you and Keying, I realizedâŚthat Iâm very lonelyâ
He then looked over at Chen Yuzhi and smiled
âBut Iâm not lonely anymore. So thank youâ
Chen Yuzhi blinked before he blushed slightly and nodded
âYouâre welcomeâ
Silence then fell over them before Jiang Yuelou hummed
âYou knowâŚâ
Chen Yuzhi looked over at him and raised an eyebrow as he smiled slightly
ââŚyouâre doing a good jobâ
Chen Yuzhi blinked
âWhat?â
Jiang Yuelou laughed
âWith Keying. Sheâs growing well, sheâs always smiling and laughing, sheâs healthy, she loves spending time with youâŚâ
He then looked at him
âYouâre doing a good job. Youâre a good older brotherâ
Chen Yuzhiâs eyes widened before they began to fill with tears, causing Jiang Yuelouâs eyes to widen in shock
âYuzhi! Shit, did I say something wrong?!â
Chen Yuzhi laughed softly and shook his head as he wiped his eyes, only the tears wouldnât stop falling
âNo, no, itâs justâŚI havenât had anyone say that to me. And IâŚI guess I never realized how much I needed to hear itâ
Jiang Yuelou looked at him before he reached out and pulled him against him, Chen Yuzhi freezing before he turned and buried his face in his shoulder, letting out a soft sob
Jiang Yuelou smiled softly and hugged him tightly, gently rubbing his back until he calmed down, both men soon pulling away from each other
âSorryâ
Jiang Yuelou shook his head as he reached up and gently wiped away his tears with his thumbs
âNo, no, donât apologizeâ
Silence then fell over them before Chen Yuzhi cleared his throat
âUmâŚChristmas is coming up in a few weeks. MaybeâŚyouâd like to get tang yuan together? The three of us?â
Jiang Yuelou looked at him in surprise before he smiled
âYeahâŚIâd like thatâ
After that, a few weeks passed in a flash and soon it was Christmas, but when Jiang Yuelou woke up that dayâŚhe felt awful
âWhy todayâŚwhy today of all daysâŚâ
He then slowly pushed himself up and slipped out a bed, heading to the bathroom to get ready before he headed out of the bathroom and over to the phone, dialing a number before he placed it to his ear
âHello?â
âChen Yuzhiâ
âJiang Yuelou?! Are you alright? You sound awfulâ
Jiang Yuelou laughed weakly before he coughed, a horrible sound to his ears
âI think Iâve caught a cold. So, I wonât be able to eat tang yuan with you and Keying this Christmas. Sorryâ
Chen Yuzhi hummed softly
âWell, let me come over and give you some medicine. We donât want your cold to get worstâ
Jiang Yuelouâs eyes widened slightly before he frowned
âAre you sure? I donât want you to get sickâ
Chen Yuzhi laughed
âIâll be okay. Iâll be over in a little bit, okay?â
Jiang Yuelou hummed
âOkayâ
He then hung up the phone, letting out a soft cough just as there was a knock at his door, making him look up in surprise before he walked over to it and opened it to find Chen Yuzhi standing outside, his kit in hand
âTook you no time to get hereâ
Chen Yuzhi smiled
âWell, I do live just down the streetâ
Jiang Yuelou laughed and nodded
âYeah. Come inâ
He then stepped aside, allowing Chen Yuzhi into the house, just as Xiao Bai walked over to him
âHello Xiao Baiâ
Chen Yuzhi then paused and knelt down, giving Xiao Bai a fond scritch under the chin before he pushed himself to his feet and motioned to the couch
âPleaseâ
Jiang Yuelou nodded and walked over to the couch, sitting down as Chen Yuzhi sat down beside him, opening up his kit before he grabbed his penlight and turned to look at Jiang Yuelou
âOpenâ
Jiang Yuelou nodded and opened his mouth, Chen Yuzhi gently grasping his face in his hand before he looked in his mouth and his eyes
âYour throatâs inflamed and your eyes are redâŚyou definitely have a coldâ
He then placed his penlight down before he reached out and gently placed the back of his hand to Jiang Yuelouâs forehead, humming softly
âAnd a slight feverâ
Jiang Yuelou then sighed
âIâm sorryâŚI ruined our plansâ
Chen Yuzhi tsked as he lowered his hand
âDonât say that. You didnât do anything wrongâ
He then smiled slightly
âWe can always get tang yuan when you feel betterâ
Jiang Yuelou nodded
âOkayâ
Chen Yuzhi then looked at him
âWhy donât you go lay down? Sleep is good for helping you recoverâ
Jiang Yuelou laughed
âDoctorâs orders?â
Chen Yuzhi smiled
âDoctorâs ordersâ
Jiang Yuelou nodded before he pushed himself to his feet and headed towards his bedroom, Chen Yuzhi watching him leave before he looked down at Xiao Bai, who had padded over to him, and smiled
âLooks like itâs just you and me, Xiao Baiâ
A few hours later, when Jiang Yuelou woke up from his nap, he found himself feeling much better than when he woke up that morning, causing him to hum softly before he slipped out of bed and headed into the living room, his eyes widening at the smell of something delicious wafting through his house
âWhatââ
Just then, Chen Yuzhi came out of the kitchen, a warm pot of stew in his hands
âOh, youâre awake!â
Jiang Yuelou blinked
âYouâreâŚstill hereâ
Chen Yuzhi smiled
âOf course I am. I wouldnât just leaveâ
He then placed the pot down before he looked at Jiang Yuelou
âFigured you hadnât eaten soâŚI made you something. I hope thatâs okayâ
Jiang Yuelou nodded
âNo, itâsâŚitâs great. Thank youâ
He then tilted his head
âWhat about Keying?â
Chen Yuzhi smiled
âA neighborâs watching her. She wanted to come visit you, but I know you probably didnât want to make her sick so I asked a neighbor to watch herâ
Jiang Yuelou hummed
âI seeâ
Chen Yuzhi then motioned to the pot
âShall we?â
Jiang Yuelou nodded before he walked over to the dining table and sat down, Chen Yuzhi sitting down across from him before they both began to eat, Jiang Yuelou humming softly in content
âThis is really good, Yuzhiâ
Chen Yuzhi smiled
âThank you. Itâs what I make whenever Keying isnât feeling wellâŚso I thought you might like itâ
Jiang Yuelou smiled
âI do. I really like itâ
Chen Yuzhi blushed
âIâm gladâ
They then went back to eating when Jiang Yuelou looked at Chen Yuzhi
âYuzhiâ
Chen Yuzhi looked at him
âHmm?â
âNew Years. For New Years, weâll go eat tang yuan. Okay?â
Chen Yuzhi smiled and nodded
âOkayâ
After they finished eating, Jiang Yuelou helped Chen Yuzhi clean up before Chen Yuzhi packed up his kit and headed to the door, Jiang Yuelou following after him
âThank you, Yuzhi. Reallyâ
Chen Yuzhi turned to look at him before he smiled
âYou looked after Keying when she wasnât feeling goodâŚthe least I could do was return the favorâ
Jiang Yuelou chuckled and nodded, Chen Yuzhi flashing him a small smile before he turned, about to leave when Jiang Yuelou reached out and grasped his wrist
âChen Yuzhiâ
Chen Yuzhi paused and turned to look at him
âHmm?â
Jiang Yuelou didnât say anything and instead just stared at him for a moment before he gave his wrist a tug and pulled him close, pressing a chaste kiss to his lips
As their lips touched, Chen Yuzhiâs eyes widened and he let out a soft noise of surprise as Jiang Yuelou quickly pulled away, shaking his head
âSorry. UmâŚI donât know what came over me. MustâŚbe the coldâ
Chen Yuzhi blinked and shook his head
âNo, Iââ
Jiang Yuelou shook his head as he took a step back
âSorry. Can youâŚcan you just go?â
Chen Yuzhi frowned
âJiang Yuelouââ
Jiang Yuelou shook his head
âPleaseâ
Chen Yuzhi looked at him before he nodded and turned, heading out of the house as Jiang Yuelou quietly shut the door behind him and groaned
God damn it
When Chen Yuzhi returned home, he thanked the neighbor for their time before he walked over to the couch and sat down, placing his head in his hands as Keying looked at him
âGege? Is everything okay? Is gege okay?â
Chen Yuzhi lifted his head out of his hands and nodded
âJiang Yuelouâs fineâ
He then sighed
âBut I donâtâŚthink heâll be coming over to eat with us anymoreâ
Keying frowned
âWhy? Did you two fight?â
Chen Yuzhi shook his head
âI wouldnât call it a fightâŚâ
Keyingâs frown deepened
âThen why wonât he come over?â
Chen Yuzhi was quiet before he sighed
âHeâs going to be busy with the New Year coming upâŚso he canât eat with usâ
Keying blinked before she nodded
âOh, okayâ
Chen Yuzhi smiled weakly and nodded before he sighed softly
He hated lying to Keying, but it was the only way to prevent her from having her heart broken
And it was just a little lieâŚno harm, no foul
Over the next few weeks, Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi hardly saw each other, mainly because Jiang Yuelou did his best to change his patrol routes so that he didnât bump into Chen Yuzhi on the way and made sure to either go home early or go home late so that he wouldnât bump into him or Keying either
And it workedâŚfor a while
Until it was finally New Yearâs day and Jiang Yuelou was out on a last minute patrol
It was weird, being probably the only person out and about while everyone was at home with either their family or their lover, counting down to the new year
But apparently, he wasnât the only one out and about because as he was patrolling, he noticed a familiar figure with a doctorâs bag walking towards him
âChen Yuzhi?â
At his name, the figure looked up before their eyes widened
âJiang Yuelou!â
They then walked towards each other until they were standing before each other, Jiang Yuelou shaking his head
âWhat are you doing out?â
Chen Yuzhi smiled weakly
âLast minute house callâŚwhat about you?â
âLast minute patrolâ
Chen Yuzhi hummed as Jiang Yuelou dipped his head
âIâm sorry, Iâm making you late. Excuse meâ
He then began to walk past him when Chen Yuzhi turned towards him
âI didnât hate it, you knowâ
Jiang Yuelou paused and turned to look back at him
âDidnât hate what?â
Chen Yuzhi smiled slightly
âThe kissâ
Jiang Yuelouâs eyes widened as he nodded
âI was surprised, sure, butâŚI didnât hate itâ
Jiang Yuelou blinked before he sighed
âIâm sorryâŚI shouldnâtâŚI shouldnât have done it without asking youâ
Chen Yuzhi tilted his head
âWhy did you? Kiss me?â
Jiang Yuelou looked at him before he cleared his throat
âBecause I like youâ
Chen Yuzhi looked at him in shock
âYouâŚlike me?â
Jiang Yuelou nodded
âI do. And then I went and did that and IâŚI was afraid that I had just ruined a friendship that I really liked. So thatâs why I told you to leave that dayâ
Chen Yuzhi looked at him before he smiled slightly and took a step towards him, looking him in the eyes
âLovers can be friends tooâ
Jiang Yuelou looked at him in surprise
âYouââ
Chen Yuzhi smiled
âI like you too, Jiang Yuelouâ
Jiang Yuelou stared at him with wide eyes before he reached up and cupped his face in his hands
âCan I?â
Chen Yuzhi smiled slightly
âI thought youâd never askâ
Jiang Yuelou grinned before he leaned forward and captured Chen Yuzhiâs lips with his, Chen Yuzhi letting out a soft sigh as he practically melted into the kiss, just as church bells began to gong, making them pull away and look around with wide eyes before they looked at each other and smiled
âHappy New Year, Yuzhiâ
âHappy New Year, Yuelouâ
Jiang Yuelou then tilted his head
âDo you still want to get tang yuan? Since we did promise?â
Chen Yuzhi blinked before he grinned
âSure. The three of us?â
Jiang Yuelou nodded
âThe three of usâ
Chen Yuzhi nodded
âOkayâ
They both then flashed each other fond smiles before they turned and headed in the opposite directions; Chen Yuzhi towards his house call and Jiang Yuelou towards the rest of his patrol
Later that morning, when the sun was shining and people were actually up and about, Jiang Yuelou, Chen Yuzhi, and Keying were sitting at a tang yuan stall, enjoying the sweet treat, when Keying looked over at Jiang Yuelou
âDid you make any wishes for the New Year, gege?â
Jiang Yuelou hummed
âI didnâtâŚdid you?â
Keying nodded vigorously
âI did!â
Chen Yuzhi tilted her head
âOh yeah? What did you wish for?â
Keying grinned
âFor the three of us to do this again next year!â
Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi looked at her in surprise before they looked at each other and smiled softly, Jiang Yuelou reaching over to take Chen Yuzhiâs hand in his
âThat sounds niceâ
Chen Yuzhi nodded
âIt doesâ
They then went back to eating their tang yuan, Jiang Yuelou and Chen Yuzhi holding each otherâs hand tightly as the sounds of the city went on around them
They both hoped that they would get to do this again next year

Chinese Junk Keying 20 May 1848, by Rock Bros & Payne 1848
She was a three masted merchant junk. And had been purchased in August 1846 in secrecy by British businessmen in Hong Kong, defying a Chinese law prohibiting the sale of Chinese ships to foreigners.
Her crew consisted of two captains (Charles Alfred Kellett and So Yin Sang Hsi) and 18 British and 30 Chinese sailors. She sailed from 1846-1848 to the Cap of Good Hope and finally on to New York over Boston to London. There she was sold in 1853 and served as an attraction.
