I watched the first five seasons of The Americans last summer.  And then I waited.  Forever.  It will be painful to wait an entire week between episodes but I think that is the best way to really appreciate this show.  The premiere was great with some genuine moments of surprise.  I feel very attached to this show and these characters.  It doesn’t seem like it will end well for anyone but then again Jessie Pinkman survived so maybe Oleg will hop into an American car screaming with rage as he drives back to Moscow in the final episode!
*Phillip is so happy! Â Maybe just end it at the line dancing so he can have the happy ending he deserves oh wait spy on your wife and maybe kill her omg everything is the worst.
*Keri Russel is so pretty!  She is very overworked it’s true but haggard doesn’t look so bad on her.  More like, ugh, thanks to Paige I stabbed a dude and now I’m too tired to take off my eye makeup.  Also is there a better analogy to motherhood than being an overworked spy?  The only person more tired than a new mom is Elizabeth the Russian Spy!  I need to sleep!  Don’t we all Elizabeth, don’t we all....
*Oleg hugging his baby made me very sad and I had to disassociate and start thinking about something other than this fictional world where nice guys leave good situations to help save their country.  His wife knew exactly what was up.  He was like I’ll be back, and she was all, sure you will.  Russians don’t bullshit.
*Miriam Shor!  It’s the best when someone you really like on another show (Younger) suddenly appears on the other show you like with zero warning!  And Max from Gilmore Girls!
*Also: being a spy is sooooo hard.  The amount of effort Phillip had to put in just to get to that bench with Oleg was exhausting.  Seeing that mailbox chalk warning, picking up a doo-dad from the weird brick, doing all that numbers spy translation, getting to the bench and finally being told to spy on his wife and maybe kill her!  No wonder he seems so happy line dancing.  Elizabeth had to sit in a restaurant, drink a million cups of coffee then hop in the car and drive around and around just to drop off that lady who walks in front of Max from Gilmore Girls and mic their super boring conversation.  THEN SHE GOES AND WORKS AS A NIGHT NURSE.  I’m guessing she isn’t putting in much time at the travel agency so that’s good.  She wouldn’t love Phillip’s motivational speeches.
