I canât think of my childhood without thinking about Star Wars movies or the corner store across the street. I just used this corner store as a metaphor for what I wanted my music to be: stripped-down, basic, enough to get you by, but we got stuff you want. I feel like the candy and the soda and the stuff thatâs not good for you are the things I like about jazz.

And the review got me to listening to some Kenny Garrett music. I listened to "Lonnie"s Lament" from Pursuance: The Music Of John Coltrane, an album I didn't know existed. Wow!
