Title: Academic Integrity

So I wrote some backstory for my Ketch based off the throwaway line about killing his classmate. Structurally and tonally it didn’t fit into the mainline fics of that series, so I made it a stand alone instead. I’m rather pleased with it on various levels, I hope you guys enjoy!

So wait, hear me out.

Sam was impressed by the paper trail Arthur left. Convinced even. What if Arthur didn’t create that paper trail? What if Alexander was real? What if Arthur really did have an identical twin? If he too attended Kendricks?

We know how you ‘graduate’ from Kendrick’s. What if Alexander simply failed? Or they were put in the room together? So yeah-evil twin is the only one who lives. Wouldn’t the BMOL want to keep those records available-in case Ketch needed a 2nd identity?

Or worse yet, what if they story of Alexander quitting was true? Do you imagine for one second that Ketch would let that stand? That the BMOL would? Why no, Alexander would have been hunted down like the dog they considered him.

(And who’s to say it was ARTHUR who came back to the BMOL from that hunt?)

Food for fan fiction, right there….

Occasionally, when I’m tired or otherwise distracted, I forget myself, and look at the weekly SPN plot the way I would a novel, with an eye toward worldbuilding, plot logic, and internal consistency.

As some of you might predict, this never ends well.  Even by episodic television standards.  But there are some episodes that require more whisky than others, and some elements that kill an entire bottle, and Hogw, er, Kendricks used every. Last. Drop.

I mean, even ignoring the fact that it was the laziest shorthand for establishing trauma (JFC yes Umbridge is a new classic but you didn’t even TRY to file the serial numbers off), I have serious doubts that forcing children to kill each other is an exam methodology that stays ‘secret.’  Once even a rumor started, it would spread and increase - especially with a significant “oh they went home without a word to anyone” population every damn year.  And if this is a legacy school, then parents would certainly warn their children not to make close friends there...

And if this wasn’t the standard exam but something special, then why was it chosen for those two, particularly?  If you’re going to make a point, ffs, then use it.  

Oh god, I could rant all night about how they established and used that school So Badly.  I’ll spare us all.

And then there’s the ‘logic’ of The Code.    I know they’re trying to establish the illogic of the brainwashing the Boys of Letters go through, but...
