My new year is always a little slower than the rest of my year, so I usually take the opportunity to do some “spring cleaning,” organizing, redecorating, and an overall efficiency check up! Brrrrr… it’s cold outside! 🥶🫔🌶😅 The perfect time for @mamava42 and I to make homemade tamales! 🫔 I used the heck out of my @instantpotofficial to pressure cook the pork butt and to steam the tamales, which made the whole process so much easier! And a huge thank you to @elmolino.lbk for some delicious seasoned masa! They mix the masa to order so call ahead & much thanks to #bossbabe Audrey for giving me a few pointers! 🙏❤️🫔 This was a long awaited event (Mom had been asking to do it for about 2 years 🤦🏻‍♀️, thank you for your patience 😘❤️) and the process, although time consuming, was not hard, but I definitely won’t be making them all the time! 😂 They really are a labor of love and definitely meant for special occasions. 🥳 We were able to create our own spicy heat levels and flavor profiles to create a uniquely delicious meal that will now be a New Year’s tradition! @mamava42 and I had so much fun cleaning, organizing and dusting at the kitchen today! (Ok, let’s get real… Mama Va was the champion duster!🤣) We moved furniture and generally just made things even cuter in the front room than they were just moments before. 😍 Guests are always looking for a place to gather their selections when shopping in the front room and today, there is finally the perfect retro perch! It finishes off the room better than I could have hoped! 🎉 I’m getting ready for the holiday season, creating more work spaces for preparing all the things to help you spread love to friends and family… gift box station, shipping station and front room perch table were all set up today! 🙌 Bring it on holiday season!!! Talk about a mother load of PEACHES! 🍑😍🍑😍🍑 Got these glorious peaches from a local farm just outside of Levelland at @newsom_family_farms 🍑... who just so happen to be the co-owners of @englishnewsomcellars 🥂 whom I recently made some peach jams and bbq sauces for their Food & Wine Markets that have been going on the last few weekends! 💁🏼‍♀️ It’s a small jam world! 🌎🍑🍷 Needless to say, the best mom in the world @mamava42 came to the rescue and we got our peach on! 🍑🔪 These glorious golden globes of goodness do not disappoint in the flavor department! 🤤😍🍑 These succulent gems will make sublime jams and bbq sauce so prepare for some locally made jam goodness coming your way next week! Today was a JAM GOOD DAY! 🍓🎉🍏🎉🍑🎉🍒 So glad to be back in the kitchen! It calms my soul like nothing else, to stir my pots of jam. There’s a rhythm that occurs naturally and it never matters how long I’ve been away, the cadence comes back like the beat of a favorite song. Prepare and measure out the fruit, get the pots going, add the sugar, stir, stir and stir some more, stir a bit more, test, stir, test, stir, stir, just about right, set up the canning station, spoons, spatulas, funnels, jars, lids... start pouring, clean drips from the rims, put lids on, gingerly lower jars into the madly boiling water of the canner... set a timer, clean pots, retrieve jars from the canner and line them up like jewels in a crown, REPEAT! I’ve faced lots of ups and downs this year, we all have, but having the constant of jam has been my true and saving grace. Routine is comforting and stabilizing for me.
