Disclaimer: I don’t play a lot of games, but I am aware of many things from other franchises.
Yeah, no, this is just so funny to me.
So, for anyone who’s in the dark, the latest God of War game was recently announced during PlayStation State of Play, and there has been a lot of backlash among the Kekeras of that player base. Upon realizing that the announced God of War game centers around Kratos’s second wife, it got me thinking about how Kratos from the original games first started as a character.
Then, after comparing the lore, I realized that Keiwa is essentially Kratos, with Ares serving as his Kekera.
In God of War, Kratos became the Ghost of Sparta because he was tricked by the Greek God of War, Ares, into slaying his first wife and daughter. This drove him to seek vengeance against the gods, leading him on a killing spree that eventually included the Titans themselves.
In Kamen Rider Geats, Kekera constantly orchestrated events that would eventually lead to the death of Keiwa’s older sister, and he ultimately succeeded, not that Keiwa is aware that the whole thing was engineered. With Kekera’s encouragement, Keiwa became consumed by vengeance. He sought power to confront his sister’s killer on two separate occasions and even attempted to kill them, only to be stopped each time.
People keep making memes comparing Keiwa to the Joker when he’s honestly closer to an Injustice Superman or Kratos-type figure within Geats.
What’s also funny is that while Bujin Sword is commonly translated as “Warrior Sword” because of the kanji associated with the term, the form name itself is written in katakana. That shouldn’t matter much, but "Bujin" can be interpreted in two ways: “Warrior Sword” or “War God.”
Another funny realization: if we use the kanji associated with the name of his sword, the form’s name literally translates to “Warrior Sword Sword.”
