“I’ll Bring You Back”

By the time we finished our coffee, the end credits of the movie we had just watched began to roll.

The upbeat song playing over the credits seemed to wash away some of the movie’s lingering unpleasantness.

I glanced over at Walt. He was resting his cheek against his hand on the arm of the sofa, wearing a look that was difficult to read.

B: “It wasn’t exactly a happy ending, but it was certainly interesting.”

S: “Indeed. The thought of suddenly becoming infected from a single human bite is quite horrifying.”

B: “Yes. And after they turned into the undead, they could run at full speed!”

S: “That part was rather amusing.”

The corners of his eyes crinkled as he picked up his coffee cup.

B: “Hey, what would you do if I became a zombie and attacked you?”

S: “It would be an honor to be attacked by you.”

B: “I might bite you from head to toe.”

S: “I must admit, that sounds rather tempting.”

The sofa creaked, and Walt leaned closer. I instinctively closed my eyes.

His lips, characteristically firm and cool, brushed against mine, and I caught the faint scent of coffee.

S: “I’m not certain whether a Troll could even become infected, but if I were to become a zombie first… I would want you to be the one to end it. Without hesitation.”

After pulling away, Walt lowered his gaze as he began gathering up our coffee cups.

Of course, if such a situation ever truly arose, I would probably have to put him down as a medical professional.

But—

B: “No. I’m a doctor, remember?”

“I’ll keep you alive as my research subject and work on developing an antiviral vaccine.”

“And I’ll bring you back to life.”

Walt’s eyes widened for a moment, but soon the corners of his eyes crinkled, and a smile softened his lips.

S: “That is reassuring, darling. Do try to do so before I start to rot.”

B: “Leave it to me!”

I planted an exaggeratedly loud kiss on his cheek.

This week, I chose “Resurrection”!

I made a little story about the two of them after they finished watching a zombie movie together. I feel like Strickler would be the type to choose self-sacrifice if it meant protecting Barbara, so I wanted Barbara to catch him before he could make that choice. 💚

This is my excuse, but I was away on a trip, so I ended up submitting this one late 🤓! And yes, I reused an old illustration too 🤣 I’d like to draw something new next time!

I also love how Thun and Keen balance each other out and make each other better. It's such a great dynamic that even Sia Thep sees the advantages of keeping them together.

I'm sure that someone else has already posted it, but Thun and Keen's relationship always reminds me of this famous post.
