I found this guide on Steam that helps with "weathering the storm" in Kaycee's mod (Inscryption) and I thought I'd reiterate it here since it's a good strategy to be aware of, even for casual runs:

Due to the "fair hand" mechanic, you are guaranteed to topdeck a card worth one blood or less (meaning it will be in your hand when the battle starts). If you pick the Mantis God deck, ditch the ring worms (eaten at the campfire, bone lord sacrifice, sigil transfer if they have annoying), and only choose high-cost creatures when you add to your deck, you are guaranteed to draw the mantis god every time.

Use the now empty campfires to buff the heck out that mantis god, and you've got an instant-win on the first turn!

Critically important, however, especially if you're going for skull storm, is to get bifurcated strike on your mantis god (you can transfer the sigil from a pronghorn or mantis). With at least six power, that raw damage output will allow it to kill a grizzly and then re-hit that same spot to win. If you can't get that, especially for the first boss or so, it will be important to utilize items such as scissors or the skinning knife (bought from the trapper) to make an empty spot to hit.

Tbh you can just exit and "continue run" until one of the creatures the trader offers has the bifurcated strike sigil. Also note that doing this when a map is first revealed is a great way to "terraform", because it reloads as a different map with different symbols. Whether you want to use these exploits is up to you, but because of the RNG nature of beating skull storm, I'd say it's fair game.

The topdeck mechanic can work for pretty much any setup you want; I've used a black goat with hoarder sigil and that worked pretty well.
