Born in Minnesota in 1914, Gillette Elvgren began painting pin-ups for the Louis F. Dow Company in 1937, and when the United States entered WW2 many of his paintings became nose-art on military planes. In 1944 Elvgren was approached by Brown and Bigelow—still a leader in calendar production—and spent the next three decades painting canvases for them. In 2018 @sprayseemo in Kansas City’s East Crossroads neighborhood invited Registered Artist and Kat Martinieré to participate and they responded with this homage to Elvgren off of E 18th St on the side of @MissionTacoJoint.  @registered_artist  @kat_martini/  @kccrossroads/
