Sadness actually goes by Salem Aster Doxely (S.A.D.) in the fic because we thought just Sadness would take the reader out of the story. it took a while for us to get to that name, but other one's we threw around were Sadness Happiness and Des Sans (an anagram for Sadness).

recently the Sims 4 came out with a new life stage, Infants, and in that update we got the option to make a "Science Baby." of course we obviously took this as "Clone Baby" and i proceeded to add baby Katya to our household. She might or might not show up in the fic, we're on the fence about it.

i based the look of Bellflower Manor off of the house in Charmed, because i love that tv show. it's also the inspiration for a lot of the urban magic you'll see in the fic, along with Practical Magic.

the Bellflowers in front of Bellflower Manor are actually a plant that grows in New Jersey! in Roman mythology they're actually associated with the Goddess Venus. In Victorian flower language white bellflowers represent gratitude, while the more traditionally pyramid shaped ones represent consistency, or staying committed to someone through a difficult time.

the pink robin au came into being because i saw a picture of an Australian Pink Robin, and thought, i have to make a story with a Robin that bases their color scheme off of that bird. it's just too cute.

so i started brainstorming. if you know me, or have read my fics, it's very apparent that i love Danielle. now, the man-who-must-not-be-named can't be trusted with any female character, let alone a complex one, so i've taken it upon myself to give her character the depth and attention it deservers. one way i like to do this is by giving her a trait that makes her physically different from Danny. in the case of this fic, i decided i wanted her powers to be pink like Vlad's, instead of green like Danny's.

i also wanted to explore a platonic relationship between Dani and Damian. They actually have a lot of crossover in their upbringing that is perfect angst potential. i also think that together, with Dick as their Batman, both of them could finally learn what it's like to actually be kids.

i want to highlight the sibling dynamics of the batfam, the dynamics between Damian and his maternal family, and of course, Dani's journey to becoming her own person.
