quick doodle of an idea for the hawks in my au
I actually hate the "Justice League is shocked by Dick Grayson/Robin and they treat Bruce with apprehension for allowing it" headcanon, because most of the og League either have sidekicks, or at the very least have a younger counterpart who was introduced not long after Dick was.
In the first 31-ish issues, only 3/10 of the active members lacked a youthful counterpart who would have become active not long after Robin debuted in-universe. Those would be Ray/Atom, J'onn/Martian Manhunter, and Hal/Green Lantern. And in Hal's case, he meets Roy/Speedy and Wally/Kid Flash relatively early.
Wonder Woman has Donna Troy/Wonder Girl. Superman has Kara/Supergirl. I've already mentioned Wally and Roy, who were Barry and Ollie's sidekicks respectively. Aquaman has Garth/Aqualad, and Hawkman has Charley/Golden Eagle. (Granted Charley wasn't introduced until the 70s and is a lesser known sidekick, but he still easily could have been active at around the same time in-universe, especially since Donna and Garth weren't introduced until the 60s).
So if we go with that line-up of heroes the only ones who might go "hey, what the fuck" would be Ray and J'onn. All the others (except Hal) would be hypocrites.
My tablet pen fucking died so I drew these on my phone instead of working on any of my actual projects. These guys' relationship in Hawkman '86 summed up in random draw ur squad things. At least this is the vibe I got, Idk if the last one fits perfectly, but it's almost 1am and I have to get up early tomorrow so it's the version I'm sharing
