if we pay attention to the backstory they gave us in S3E7 he didnt exactly have a strong or close relationship with any of the other daves when they died, but now that he actually has best friends and has a family, their deaths would hurt a lot more.

during S3E8, after ben asked troy to prahm and after ben and troy kissed, dave started tearing up and said "I usually don't have these kinds of emotions, but, feels good." now, grief is an unavoidable emotion that everyone experiences. but because he never had a genuine friendship with the other daves he might have never felt grief before

so if he does end up outliving everyone because of his immortality, thats gonna hurt like hell, and hes gonna have trouble dealing with that grief because hes not used to feeling it and he will eventually have nobody to help him cope with it.

even though dave was not close with hugo at all, he still was crying when hugo died. so now imagine what might happen when, say, benson dies

he jokes around a lot, yes, however those jokes and his comedic personality would only be a temporary way for him to distract himself from their deaths until it isnt enough anymore with such a strong emotion, especially an emotion hes never dealt with before

although he definitely couldve met others before he met ben, i feel like he definitely wouldve mentioned it if the relationship actually had any meaning to him, and he might have displayed more emotions in some circumstances where he remembers them if he DID have a meaningful bond with someone before ben

bet you didnt know dave could have angst because hes most commonly seen as the "comedic relief" character but there you go
