Kapurpurawan Rock Formation
This photo shows the Kapurpurawan Rock Formation, a popular landmark located in the Ilocos Norte Province of the Philippines on the island of Luzon. The name “Kapurpurawan” comes from the root word “puraw,” meaning “white” in the Ilocano language. The whitish-colored limestone sedimentary rocks on the beach near the Burgos Lighthouse have been shaped by thousands of years of wind and wave erosion.

Kapurpurawan Rock Formation
Perched along the rugged coastline of Burgos, Kapurpurawan Rock Formation offers breathtaking views of the West Philippine Sea. The contrast between the white rocks, golden sand, and azure waters creates a picturesque scene.
'Kapurpurawan' means 'white' in Ilocano, and the rocks formed by sea, wind, and sand for hundreds of years indeed look bleach white under the sun.
