**John Carlos** is a former American track and field athlete, best known for his historic role in the 1968 Olympics. Alongside teammate Tommie Smith, Carlos raised a black-gloved fist during the medal ceremony for the 200-meter sprint to protest racial inequality and human rights abuses. This iconic "Black Power" salute became one of the most powerful symbols of the civil rights movement. Carlos, who won the bronze medal in that race, faced significant backlash for his protest but remained dedicated to activism throughout his life. His courage and conviction made him a lasting figure in both sports history and social justice. They tried to kill him just like they tried to kill Kap!
