A Stunning Development
At the time of writing no one knows exactly why or how it happened, but it seems as though former maiko Fukuharu (富久春) of Okatome (岡とめ) in Gion Higashi is back in the karyukai! She is now geiko Kanowaka (叶和佳) of Kanoya (叶家), also in Gion Higashi! This is really odd as this has never happened before and there have been maiko who wanted to become geiko from Kanoya but were not allowed to. I’ll try and find out more if I can, but for now it’s nice to see such a talented member come back ^^!
December 2018: Sisters Geiko Kanowaka, Maiko Kanohiro, Maiko Kanotomo and Maiko Kanohisa (Kanoya Okiya) of Gion Higashi during Kotohajime.
Kanotomo and Kanohisa were wearing their full makeup and attire because they were scheduled for appointments shortly after Kotohajime.
Maiko Kanochiyo is not in the picture, but she was also present during Kotohajime.
