          while   there   were   definitely   things   after   being   raised   that   were   different.   that   were   just   off   kilter   enough   that   it   sent   him   into   a   spiral,   there   were   also   things   that   were   the   same.   things   that   he   used   as   lifelines   to   firmly   plant   himself   in   the   present.   

          it   helped.   it   really   did.   when   you   were   spiraling,   familiarity   seemed   to   be   the   best   friend.   so   that’s   why   the   other   would   find   him   in   a   tree   at   their   first   meeting,   kicking   his   legs   a   bit   as   he   plucked   fruits   from   it,   writing   down   a   few   notes   for   his   next   ballad.   sure,   it   may   be   stained   with   apple   juice   after   the   fact,   but   he   could   just   rewrite   it   on   another   paper   at   a   later   time.   this   was   a   first   draft   after   all.   

          eyes   flicker   over   when   he   notes   that   he   is   no   longer   alone   and   gives   an   awkward   sort   of   laugh.

Yoriichi had a terrible habit of not showing his own body proper care, even as he worried and looked after others so frequently. Concentrated breathing came second nature to him, to the child that once held his breath for such stretches of time simply because father was angry, simply because father was near. Quieting the complaints of his body, when fatigue finally dragged on his limbs as if they were weighted with iron, done without a moment's notice.

He was simply too accustomed to pushing himself further and further, for none could reach the lengths he could, and that simply meant that Yoriichi was obligated.

It was never something he saw fit to complain of, but then...he never truly did complain, anyway.

Resting in the shade of a tree to give his body what was intended to be merely a small break, Yoriichi doesn't realize he had dozed off until unfamiliar voice startles him from his dozing, only to open his eyes and see a more familiar person.

Ah, yes. This is one of Tanjiro's friends, wasn't she?

He shouldn't be so uncouth. A quiet breath, and Yoriichi pushes himself to his feet again.

Seated outside a teahouse, Sasuke works on finishing his tea while keeping an eye out for another demon slayer. His hawk informed him he would be partnered for an upcoming assignment. Not his first choice, since he’d rather work alone but he can’t go against orders. 

His instincts rouse after her gaze falls on him. He pauses to see if can gain a sense of it’s direction. Nothing, the town is too busy. Setting down his cup, he stands and takes his dishes inside. The pressure disappears for a moment, which confirms someone was watching him. Paying for his meal, he heads back outside and begins to look with a sharpened intent. 

Upon finding them, the uniform and sword are dead giveaways, he raises a brow. Her smile is a odd to him, though he brushes it off. That’s not important anyways.
