Sushi Game

I headed to Makuhari Event Hall in the morning to pick up the goods that I preordered online. With my bad sense of direction and also my constitution that can't deal with hot weather, I was a bit worried that I would get lost and be too late for the pick up (there's only a time window of 15 minutes).

Luckily, when I was in the train going to Kaihimmakuhari, I saw a girl sitting across me with the VIP exclusive beige tote bag from SUGOI MUSIC live tour. So, when we were getting off, I approached her and showed my SUGOI MUSIC green keychain. Her face lit up immediately and we started chatting on our way to the venue. I told her where I'm from and she was very surprised to see a fan from overseas. She is a longtime fan of Miyu (through Kamiya-san, she got to know about Miyu), and she went to Miyu's ETNW concert (which made me jelly ngl, bc I went to Japan that year too and wanted to attend it as it was right before Miyu's hiatus and study abroad). She also attended KMY2 and KMY4 (she actually wore the t-shirt from KMY4).

I told her about the message cards me and some friends here in tumblr (thank you! to @sugawarasensei and @me-loves-seiyuus) and on X wrote for the unit and to both Miyu and Kamiya-san (with the designs created again by our very talented friend @miyusara). I also showed her pictures of the previous cards for Miyu last year.

(Sara created 6 different designs for the unit and both of them individually. And I made the order in a shop right before my flight.)

She was amazed that I knew so many overseas Miyu fans. I told her that it's actually quite lonely being an oversea Miyu fan, but that we have a dedicated fan community. And she was really touched and happy to learn that.

We exchanged contact data and hoped to meet again for Miyu's events.

Picking up the goods went smoothly on the first day. But unfortunately, on the second day, I arrived from the other side and got lost. I underestimated how big the place is... So I missed the time window to pick up the goods for Sara.😓 (They would send the goods to our home adress though in such cases.)

After I got the goods, I hurried back to my hotel to leave my stuff and get our message cards, and headed back to the venue in the afternoon. There I met up with ZX, then another friend we met in Sugomyu last year joined and we went in. However, because we all have different seats, we went separate ways after the ticket check. ZX was lucky enough to get a seat on the second floor facing directly the big and small stages. So, when Miyu and Kamiyan had their dance part on the small stage, she had the perfect view to admire their performance.😁

In Day 1, I had a seat in the arena. Which is actually quite awesome... If I were taller lol.

In Day 2, my seat was in the first row on the third floor. So, even though it was further away, I had a very clear view. And both Miyu and Kamiya-san were passing by on the trolley several times, just few feet away from me!😆 Though they would look further back behind me ahh. Once, when Kamiya-san was coming closer, he waved to the people in other blocks of the same floor, but when he passed half-way through our block and came in front of me, he turned his back right in that moment to wave to the people below lol.

On Day 2, something equally as embarassing as well as incredibly cool happened: As clumsy as I am, with a bad sense of direction, I couldn't find my seat, so I thought of asking a staff member, and I saw a guy I assumed was staff and was about to talk to him. The guy noticed me, and I finally realized who stood in front of me: Sasshi, the band master, a friend and constant member of Miyu's band! I freezed for a moment, while Sasshi was looking at me with a "Yes? Do you need help?" face, but I just ran away in shock and embarassment... I really regret that, what a missed opportunity aahh!😭 Sasshi in person was really cool! I already thought that in SUGOI MUSIC. I always had the impression of him as being somewhat aloof, but his eyes were really kind when he looked at me. I can't believe that I just ran into him like that! I just hope that my weird reaction didn't freak him out...😅

After the usual greeting narrated by Miyu and Kamiya-san, stating the rules once again, and the intro clip KAmiYU finally appeared! Both were wearing the cute matching sweaters, and they started off the concert with 'Taiyou no Sympathy'.

Miyu: "Welcome to KIW! It's been seven years! Thank you for coming!"

"This year, Kamiya-san turned 50! Congratulation, Kamiya-san! In Kirafes, I said that we should celebrate your birthday in the next KAmiYU event! Finally! Kamiya-san, tell us what your aspiration is?"

Kamiya-san: "To stay alive!" 😁

As they continue to the next song, 'Sting of Love', a noise interrupted the intro.

Miyu:"Sorry! There's a disturbance. Well, it's been a while so mistakes can happen. Alright, Kamiya-san, let's continue! Huh? Kamiya-san?"

Kamiya-san was still crouching on the floor when he suddenly got up and pushed Miyu away, letting out a maniac laughter.😈

Smoke was wrapping around Kamiya-san (Miyu:"What's happening! Don't worry, I will protect you (the audience) all!"😆✨). When it cleared up, Dark Kamiya-san in a coat appeared and he announced both him and Miyu to be stopping their activities altogether, even going so far to take the stage director Namiki-san as hostage in order to sacrifice him to make the point. He then went on to sing a dark version of '21 Century Boy', with the lyrics changing words into "inferno", "curse" and "slave" etc. (I couldn't remember all but I hope someone will write it down bc it's too funny)😂.

Btw, when flames were shooting up, even I could feel the heat! How hot it must have been on the stage! I think the air circulation was quite good too that you could feel it from such a distance. (Which makes me notice another thing: Every time Miyu moved to our side on stage, there was a fresh, nice breeze of scent. I'm not sure if that's Miyu, but it could be bc of the circulation. Ahaha! Sorry for being a creepy fan lol)

(Here, Kamiya-sans name had the character for "death" instead of "chronicle" in his name, both characters spelled out as "shi"😂)

Miyu desperately tried to stop Dark Kamiya and bring back Kamiya-san. He reminded Kamiya-san of their wonderful past, when they met for the recording of Tsubasa Chronicle, or had sushi dinner together. And that's when we had our first surprise guests: Eiji Takehiro, also known as Takepon, and Onosaka Masaya-san. They would act as Miyu (Takepon) and Kamiya-san (Onosaka), acting out a distorted version of their memories together ("Miyu" not knowing who Kamiya-san is while "Kamiya-san" imitates seiyuu Nozawa Masako). And real Miyu in the back was constantly tsukkoming them.😂

Matsudaira Ken-san also appeared with a video message and Nozawa Masako-san made an appearance too with an audio message. All in effort to bring back Kamiya-san.

Finally, with a spirit energy ball (reference to Dragonball) that Miyu created with the energy collected from the audience (Miyu asked us to repeat "Sushi Zanmai!" and "Hiroshi!") and shot at Kamiya-san, he was able to bring our Kamiyan back.😁

I really love this little skit they included here, not only bc it's so funny and also very wholesome, how Miyu was desperately trying to save Kamiya-san. But also bc here we got a IRL glimpse of stage actor Irino Miyu! When (Dark) Kamiya-san started calling him "Irino-kun", I thought for a moment that Miyu was crying for real, his facial expression and the sound of his voice when he broke down, they all felt so real! Sasuga, Miyu!

In the MC part, Miyu once again called for us to congratulat Kamiya-san. And then they talked about how this part was planned and organized. On Day 1, they mentioned the sacrifice part.

Kamiya-san: "We initially had the idea that Miyu's father, Irino Yutaka, could play that part."

Miyu: "Hey, don't just casually drop my dad's name here!" (Thank you, Kamiya-san! Finally learned the name of Miyu's awesome dad!😆)

Kamiya-san (laughs): "But there were reasons, so we eventually decided on Namiki-san."

In Day 2, they talked about how they thought of having Kamiya-sans mother be the voice that would try to call for Kamiya-san to turn normal again.

Kamiya-san: "When we asked Mako-san (Nozawa Masako), I said: 'Only you or my mother could appeal to my normal self.' And she said: "Oh, my! Is that so? Then I'd be honored to play that part.'. She was so kind and cute."

Miyu also talked about how Kamiya-san turned into a total fanboy, when he sent a message to Matsudaira-san. Because Miyu worked with Matsudaira-san before, he contacted him and asked him for the favor to appear in a video message to celebrate Kamiya-sans birthday. 😁Miyu, sugoi!

After the MC they went backstage to change. And you could hear Kamiya-san taking his time. So Onosaka-san and Takepon jumped in and performed 'Nobody knows'. Well, they basically just "la-la" throughout the song lol.

When the unit appeared they started the singing part with Mellow x Mellow.

In the short MC after 'Manji Gun the Night', they talked briefly about their senpais, Onosaka-san and Takepon, how entusiastically both were in participating and that they basically adlibbed everything. Which is quite amazing, how they were both in tune with their comedic timing!

Next came the dance part. Needless to say, my eyes were glued to Miyu lol. He was just too cool and sexy.😆

In 'DOUBLE', they got on the trolley and rode around. In Day 1, Miyu was on our side of the arena, but he didnt come to our corner.😔

And then they sang an arranged version of 'Kokoro no Tobira', which was a bit slower in pace in the intro but faster in the main part. In Day 2, both of them got quite emotional and Miyu took of his ear plugs to listen to our voices.🥹 (He would gesture to Kamiya-san to take off his ear plugs during 'Touristar'.)

When they disappeared backstage to change again, a compilation video with clips of all KIW was shown on the screen. I have to admit that I got emotional watching it, esp with the instrumental of Kokoro no Tobira playing in the background.😭

Next was "sparkling song part", with 'Kiss me yet'. Fans went crazy (and would talk about it for days in twitter afterwards lol) watching the fanservicey dance they performed. I must say that I usually find this type of dance a bit cringey, but again, Miyu just makes it work for me. He looked so cool, doing the moves so effortlessly and naturally (sry to focus on Miyu sm ahh. It's just that I love watching him dance and I can't help my eyes automatically drawn to him whenever there's a dance part...😅).

Speaking of fan service, Miyu is truly feeling less shy about it as he was throwing kisses a lot of times, like when he was on the trolley, or made the heart signs to the audience.🥰

In the MC, they talked about the rehearsal for the song and that it was again Hiromasa-san providing the choreography.

Miyu: " The rehearsal was quite tough, right? I uploaded a picture on IG of that day."

Kamiya-san: "On the first day, I just gave up and asked Hiromasa-kun to go ahead with Miyu first."

Miyu: "Somehow, with age, the less people expect you to do (very idol-ish stuff), the more you want to challenge yourself in that lol."

Next was an arranged version of 'Go the distance', a more faster paced and sort of idolish vibe to it. I love the newly arranged version of the songs in this live concert, with the dark metallic version of 21 Century Boy by Kamiya-san being probably my favorite among them.😆

The MC part before 'Home' almost made me cry.

Miyu: "We have been active for over 15 years, and thanks to you all, KAmiYU has become home to us. We want to do our best to be able to come back ("Tadaima") for the KIW 6." (Yes!!!😆)

Kamiya-san: "Until then, lets stay healthy! Health comes first! I feel very blessed to be able to stand here, you all have made it happen!"

Miyu: "We mean it, it's not lip service. You all gave us your warm support and we made it so far because of you all, we can feel your love and support for us, truly!"

Kamiya-san:"We never have pictured ourselves being where we are now. Please continue to support us. Thank you very much!"

In Day 2, Kamiya-san pointed out that he saw a lot of guys in the audience, to which a lot of them cheered.😁 I remember to have spotted a lot of fanboys wearing the KAmiYU jersey too while I was in the hall waiting for ZY.

And then they sang 'Home'. What a fitting song to wrap up this wonderful, long overdue event!😭💖

We all sang with them, and one thing I can say what makes such huge venue so special is the sheer energy and power you can feel when everyone joins in singing! Miyu again took off his ear plugs to listen to our voices. And the expression he had on his face... I felt warm and fuzzy inside just by looking at his face in those moments...🥹

But of course they would end on a higher note by finishing with 'Sushi Game'. Same like us, they didn't want to end it, so they actually went three more rounds of the chorus, in both days.😁 In Day 1, Miyu danced with the dancers the cute dance in the chorus. And in the 4th round, the dancers had huge sushi plushies on their back, running around and sliding on the big stage. Onosaka-san and Takepon also appeared on stage. In Day 2, Onosaka-san kissed Miyu spontaneously on his cheek when the latter sang "めったにない仲間" (invaluable friends).😆 And Miyu did an amazing ad lib in this song, in his head voice and with his impeccable vibrato. Overall, Miyu's singing was just mindblowing... He's such a powerful singer and performer!🤧

Lastly, they would introduce the kira dancers, the guests and themselves again. They wished us safe travel home and thanked us for coming again before getting off stage.

In Day 1, when they left, many of us still stayed, even after the organizers announcement that it was over. We thought that there could be an encore, so some chanted "Encore!". Only when they made the announcement again, everyone realized that it was really finished.😅

When exiting, the staff handed each of us a flyer. I took it without really looking at it. Only when I was back in my hotel and saw the tweet from Kiramune about the exclusive tokuten that comes with the preorder of the BD made before midnight, did I take a closer look. So I rushed to make the order on Animate lol. I told my friends in Line about it, but we weren't sure, if the code only works for one person or account and if it is only limited to one item purchase. But I still sent the code I got in Day 2 (bc I already used the one from Day 1) in our group chat and ZY tried and was able to place the order for three more people (bless her!).🥰

Phew! This got sooo much longer than I planned (and typing that all on my phone too!). It was an unforgettable two day experience! I'm so happy and feel very blessed to be able to attend KIW!😭 💖 I hope that 6 won't be too long...🙏

I saw someone doing the math, that it took almost 3 years for KIW 3 to happen, 5 for KIW 4, and now 7 for KIW 5. So, next one could be in 9 years! 😩 But it's quite possible that they would have one when Miyu turns 40, just like they used that occasion to celebrate Kamiya-sans 50th birthday. At least I hope so.

There may be more that I forgot to add here, or too tired to lol. But the report turned out way too long anyway. Thank you very much for reading all this (and pls forgive the typos, errors and lack of eloquency bc my brain and fingers are too tired now lol).

I have no words, it was too amazing!

I was in the arena. But unfortunately, I'm short, ppl slightly taller were in front of me. 😭

But I feel so blessed, so privileged!
