***Spoiler alert for The Millionaire Detective Balance: Unlimited.***
I had a single thought about The Millionaire Detective Balance: Unlimited yesterday so naturally my brain was like "yeah you need to rewatch this RIGHT NOW" and so I did and just like every other time I've rewatched it I'm going so crazy about it. I've rewatched TMDBU so many times and it never ever ever gets boring and I love it. Daisuke Kambe please crush my neck with your thighs like you tried to do to that one guy on the boat. The intro and outro are both so goddamn catchy that it feels wrong to even consider skipping through them. I've been crazy about this show for years and I wish it got another season but I am also perfectly content with how it ended in the first and only season. Anyways yeah both Haru and Daisuke are fine as hell (Haru in the outro when he's arresting that guy?? Hello??? Baddie??????!!!) and the story is well written and I love everything about it except for that one part with Suzue and Daisuke under the blanket but I just skip that part when I rewatch it so it's fine!!!! I'm rambling but that's okay!!!! I love this anime so much!!!!!
I appreciate how they treated Haru's gun-related trauma. Throughout the majority of the anime, he could not get himself to fire a gun at someone again, no matter how hard he tried, no matter how dire the situation -- he just couldn't. Every time he tried to shoot a gun, the moment he shot someone who he had, in the moment, no reason to believe was anything but an innocent bystander, out of self defense flashes before his eyes. He goes from thinking that he's a hero to thinking that he's nothing but a civil servant. It's only when Daisuke, knowing why Haru hasn't been able to shoot a gun after all this time, grounds Haru by basically telling him, "I know what you've been going through and why you think you can't be a hero, but I want you to know that throughout the entire time that I've known you, whether you've realized it or not, you've been nothing but a hero," is Haru finally able to shoot. Daisuke REALLY needed Haru to be able to shoot the wire. They were screwed if he couldn't. And finally, hearing it from someone else, let alone Daisuke Kambe himself, finally made the metaphorical clock inside of Haru start ticking again. But I just really appreciate that it was a legitimate mental block for him, something that he couldn't just get over easily -- his trauma is treated as something real, something that takes time to heal. And in the end, he doesn't have to shoot a person, just a wire. Who knows if he could have fired the gun if Daisuke told him to shoot the man he was restraining instead. But he knew Haru would be able to shoot the wire. He's a hero, after all.
I'm so crazy about this anime. I'm so crazy about it. I also find it really funny how Daisuke Kambe, this unfathomably, disgustingly wealthy guy who only eats the highest grade cuisine, really likes instant noodles. He loves them. It's also kind of funny just how helpless he is when he hasn't got HEUSC to provide him with unlimited money. This man has never experienced the real world and it shows. This guy that lives in what looks like fucking Buckingham palace in England is also the same guy that decided while drunk that sleeping in Haru's bathtub would be a fine idea. He's like a lost dog but if the dog had a collar made of 24k gold and pulls you around with its leash expecting you to know where it's trying to go and neither of you have any clue as to where that is. Also RIP his mom bro đđ and fuck the butler and grandma dude the Kambe family is so fucked up it's actually crazy. Anyways the real MVP of the entire series is specifically Kamei holding the wifi pole thing between his toes on top of the truck. What a man. I'm gonna go on forever at this point so I'll stop but agaggagsgegehegrhdugssg. I've been insane about this show for so many years and I just get more and more insane as time passes by.
even more fkbu btw⌠would be lying if I said I didnât dream of s2 againâŚ
what the helll!!!!!
Mouse hole | Kambe Daisuke & Sato Haru

A/N: it's been ages since I watched this anime and I didn't even finish it fkdnfkfnf but I hope I made them justice and you enjoy this one, Maaaax mwah đ
Summary: Daisuke likes to badmouth Haru's house, but he's a sensitive man... In more than one way.
Words: 1.9k
This wasn't supposed to be happening. They were just having a good time with a few beers, (Haru), chatting about this and that at Haruâs home. However, without warning, the atmosphere turned tense and both men got caught up in an argument, unable to stop their words before they started saying hurtful things at each other.Â
âIt's not my fault you live in this mediocre mouse hole," Daisuke said, his tone a little too cold and condescending as he crossed his arms and looked away from Haru.
Haru couldn't help but feel upset. He thought he'd grown used to Kambe's hurtful comments, but he was sorely mistaken. It still affected him, perhaps a bit too much, especially when Kambe felt the need to remind Haru of their financial differences.Â
Haru never really minded the size of his own house. It was true, it wasn't the biggest house, but it was his home, somewhere he could return to when the days were too long and tiring. A place where he could have a meal and a drink and a bed to sleep.Â
Who gave Kambe the right to talk about Haru's house like that? Why would a kid born with a silver spoon in his mouth come and comment on anything about his house? The audacity to disrespect Haru while wearing his clothes, eating his food and drinking his water.Â
Haru started to feel less tipsy than he was angry, but he still knew he wouldn't be able to formulate words to fight Kambe. So he just pouted, hugging his knees to his chest, as if subconsciously trying to make more room for Kambe so he would stop badmouthing his home. He turned his head away to avoid looking into his eyes.Â
Silence filled the room, the only sound that could be heard was their breathing and Haru taking sips of his beer. He could feel Kambe's eyes on him, studying him, and when Haru glanced at him from the corner of his eye, he was almost sure he saw a hint of regret in his eyes. It could have just been the light, though.
âListen,â Kambe said with a sigh. âI-,â he sighed again and Haru was almost sure Daisuke would groan at any moment. âI'm sorry, okay? I shouldn't have said that⌠It was dumbâŚâÂ
Haru wanted to accept the apology, after all he had also been saying some not very nice things about Kambe, but that apology struck him as fake and in his current state, (drunk), it almost sounded as if Kambe was making fun of him.
âI'm serious,â Kambe mumbled. âYou know I'm serious.âÂ
Now it was Haru who wanted to groan. His pout became more prominent as did the frown on his brow. He took another swig of beer and tossed the can somewhere across the room while grabbing and opening another, taking a long sip, as if he wanted to gather the strength to speak again⌠but no words came out of his mouth.Â
Kambe had not only offended his house, his home, he had also trampled on his pride and one did not recover easily from that. Wasn't it only fair that Haru made him beg a little longer? A second or third, (more sincere), apology would surely convince him.Â
âKato, listen, I-âÂ
âKato Haru. 30 years old. Day of birth May 2nd. Blood type A.âÂ
Haru looked up as HEUSC spoke over Kambeâs voice. Materialized in front of Kambe, who looked as surprised as Haru, was a green screen with the silhouette of a man right in the center, flanked by Haru's personal information. It was only then that Haru realized, with a jolt of surprise, that the silhouette was his own.Â
