Angst alphabet - B F H J S - Killer

no reader. Warnings: Wano Spoilers, mild angst 

B— Bad Habits (what bad habits do they have?)

Killer does not necessarily have a lot of 'bad habits', mostly because he doesn't have a lot of habits altogether. Pirate life is quite tumultuous and it's living on a day-to-day basis more than forming a routine.

The few things he does that could be considered bad habits are almost more character traits rather than habits. He's silent, keeping thoughts mostly to himself and internalizing all his feelings. He's hard to read, which keeps people from trusting him. 

Besides that he’s rather suspicious of anyone outside the crew, which is fair, but makes it hard to get close to him, even with the best possible intentions in mind. Even when someone manages to get close, it’s pretty hard for him to even allow himself to be comfortable around someone else. His instincts make him on edge all the time. 

F— Fake (what do they fake? An emotion? A lack of emotions?)

Well, some of Killers composure is fake. He learned to keep his childhood rowdiness and extreme emotion spikes at bay. He hates his smile, he hates his laugh, so it’s better just not to feel any emotional spikes at all, it makes the risk of getting ridiculed smaller.

Fake it till you make it is an actual thing, and the more extreme emotions got suppressed, the more Killer actually became calm and composed. After a while, there was no faking necessary. 

Other than that, Killer does not really have to fake a lot. That’s the good thing about a ragtag bunch like the Kid Pirates. They are all heavily flawed, no need to hide certain aspects of their lives. 

H— Heartbreak (how did they deal with heartbreak? which time effected them the most?)

If you don’t trust anyone, you cannot let your heart get broken, that’s a lifehack Killer knows everything about. Besides the Curry Udon girl in his and Kid’s past, Killer did not get his heart broken. Way back when that happened, he was just a kid, and while it did hurt his ego, he does realize that it was nothing more than a stupid puppy love crush, something that’s entirely worthless in his current life. 

If Killer would have to deal with heartbreak, he’d deal with it the way he deals with other emotions: internalize them until they spill, somewhere far away from others, so no one has to see them. Killer would rather burst open from keeping in too much than letting himself be that vulnerable. That’s just plain stupid. 

J— Jealous (what makes them feel jealous of others?)

Not a lot actually, Killer is not necessarily a jealous person by nature. As a pirate, he also knows how to just take whatever he feels like he’s owed, a motto his captain more than lives by.

The only type of jealousy Killer could possibly feel, but very rarely, stems from insecurities and someone having something that he can’t have and can’t just take for himself, such as a romantic partner. But again, those are feelings that get internalized and out themselves in dangerous ways, far removed from the jealousy that they may have started off as. 

S— Snake (have they ever betrayed someone? ever been betrayed? How did they react?)

Well, we all know just how badly the Kid Pirates were betrayed and we all know what Killer did in order to save his crew. Killer is not necessarily the revenge-type himself, but he will gladly participate in revenge if that’s what his captain is doing.
