She waited.

She was good at waiting.

It was most of what she had done her whole life.

She sat quietly, snug between two dumpsters, hugging her legs to her chest with her chin resting on her knees.

She stared out into the night with wide eyes.

They had beaten her and kicked her out. Her own parents! Weren't parents supposed to love their children? Why had they called her "monster" and "devil child"? She had no idea what a "kakuri" was or how shewasone.

Shedidn't know how she had sprouted cat ears or tail or how she could suddenly read people like an analog clock. She didn't know, so why should she suffer?

Had it been this long already?

A wave of regret and sorrow passed through her, and guilt sat like a stone in her heart. She rested her forehead in the palms of her hands.

A year.

It had been a year since this began-- since that had ended. She had been the leader of a revolution, Nakori knew that, but she had also wanted the peace Nakori also sought for. She had become the only trustworthy ally, and she had died for peace.

And Nakori had no other choice than to kick the process in the balls to get it up and running.

The process was long and harsh, like any integration is. Riots in the streets, outright refusal and rejection of government plans.

Nakori sighed as she remembered the first month. Underground scientists had long been working on pills to suppress Kakuri powers, but they had barely working, causing flares of uncontrolled and uncontrollable energy to occur when it wore off. There were multiple cases of Kakuri suddenly turning into animals, or having episodes that caused giant storms. It was tense everywhere you went. Some refused to take the pill after those fiascoes, which didn't matter for some as they had near complete control over their abilities. The Normals, however, didn't believe that and a new pill was introduced in the beginning of the next month.

Slowly, everything calmed down. People began to forget there was even another type of human and went on with their lives. Most of them, at least.
