Bito- the oldest and 9 yrs younger than Sasuke. Lives up to his namesake, mischievous, loves sweets, and his mom’s knife collection. Is always lookin for a fight, and will argue for the sake of it, but has the biggest heart.

Kaori - genjutsu master, 4 years younger than Bito. Cool, calm, collected but a bit of a perfectionist. She loves fried foods, napping and going on hikes with her big brother Sasuke.

Mitsu- Was the perfect little baby. Still is Soft boy, intelligent beyond belief and thinks his parents are the coolest. Partially deaf in his left ear after a training accident when he was 7.

‘The Morning of the Graduation Ceremony’

Hiruzen called Kakashi for a meeting the morning of Sasuke’s graduation. He met the man on the street in front of Hokage Tower, “Let’s go for a walk” he’d said. They exchanged pleasantries on their jaunt about town, stopping before the front stoop of what Kakashi knew to be Naruto Uzumaki’s apartment complex. 

The copy-nin suspected he knew the reason for the visit, though Hiruzen confirmed it as he sat at the boy’s kitchen table with a crisp manilla folder. 

Kakashi read through Naruto’s transcripts, his lackluster academy performance, and his inability to complete the graduation exam. He’d of course already gotten wind of the incident the other night with Mizuki, there wasn’t a shinobi in the Village not gossiping about his betrayal and subsequent arrest. Though few knew what really transpired or the part that the young jinchuriki played. 

Kakashi flipped to the second file, a kunoichi whos’ clan he had never heard of…likely civies. Though her grades were excellent, Kakashi sighed through his nose. It was futile for him to try to deny being a Jonin Sensei any longer, Hiruzen would keep on pushing.

“Sasuke Uchiha’s on your team as well,” came the Third’s stern voice when Kakashi resealed the unread remainder of the folder. 

Kakashi didn’t look through Sasuke’s file, there was no need. The kid’s report card hung on the fridge with a silly –albeit mildly inappropriate– magnet he’d bought Akami as a gag gift from the Land of Tea. Instead Kakashi used the uncomfortable silence to take in the destructive state of Naruto’s home, cluttered with empty instant ramen cups and dirty dishes, milk left out to bake in the mid-summer heat and tattered clothes strewn about. Kakashi was trying his very best not to imagine what Minato Sensei…or worse Kushina, might have done seeing their son live like this. 

It was such a glaringly stark contrast to Sasuke.  

The kid hadn’t longed for anything, Akami bought him every toy under the sun, he had countless clothes, shoes, kimonos and jackets, even as he grew so fast he ran through them. Coloring books he probably never touched and practically an entire library at his disposal. He had training shuriken, swords and kunai, even now he had the real deal. 

Kakashi swiped his finger across the surface of Naruto’s dresser, made a face at the thick layer of dust and gunk from what looked like a melted ruby red gusher. He tried to withhold his judgments, Naruto was only twelve — though at that age both his and Akami’s apartments would have never looked like this.
