Nicole Stjernswärd “Kaiku” Colour Making Machine!

Imperial student Nicole Stjernswärd is using plant waste to create natural powder pigments that can be used for paints, inks or textiles.

Historically colour came from plants and minerals, but with the onset of industrialisation, cheap, petrochemical colours became the norm, at a cost to the environment.

Many plants and fruits eaten every day, such as avocados, onions and pomegranates, have valuable colours within their skins and peels. Normally these are left to rot in landfills, but KAIKU transforms this waste into a high value resource.

KAIKU’s colour making machine converts plant dyes into paintable pigments, allowing the user to create custom colours and have total control over the source of the colours. Plant dyes are added to the machine’s reservoirs and are then vaporised into dry powders.

Wanted to sketch out more on this blu boi, Kaiku.

Drakerys III - The Valgar Isles

It's that time of the year. Time to travel to the faraway land of imagination, to the land of Drakerys. I will be interpreting Ol'Index the Librarian. an very old man, quite senile and anarchist at heart, that love books and knowledge beyond all rationality. To support his community that was devastated by a dragon attack and subsequent the sinking of their poisoned island Kaiku, he will try to build a new home on the Valgar Isles, currently at war with a lot of people. Life isn't easy for the natives of Kaiku, for they goal is a quite complicated one to achieve: They want to live in peace in their home, without having to swear allegiance to any other country, God or Dragon. tsk, tsk, tsk... That will be hard. Pencil doodle on A6 sketchbook [ PSA : - Daily Updates on Pixiv, Facebook and PF will be on hold until my return next week. - Deviantart and Tumblr are scheduled as usual ^^] *** Voici venu le temps de voyager vers les contrées de l'imagination, voici venir la saison des GN !Je serais sur Drakerys Opus III en tant que Pépé Index, le vieil anarchiste des natifs de Kaiku amoureux des livres et féru de savoir qui viens néanmoins se rendre sur les Iles Valgar suite la la disparition de Kaiku pour cause de Dragon et de submersion. La vie n'est pas facile pour les natifs, car ce qu'ils désirent avant tout est un rêve inaccessible : Une portion de terre à eux où vivre en paix loin de tout roi, empereur, Dragon, ou Dieu. tss, tss, tss...
