I know the problem with the writing getting dumb everytime Kai Leng is on screen has been talked about for years but I will never forgive that time BioWare killed my boyfriend by having him charge *with a gun* at a guy with a sword.

I installed the ME3 mod that replaces Kai Leng in ME3 with either Miranda or Jacob.
Remember, my Shepard romanced Miranda.
Based on the 'points system' the mod uses, my assassin SHOULD be Jacob, but it's a borderline case. ONE missed flag, and...
If Miranda is the assassin, Maria Shepard is going to tear The Illusive Man limb from fucking limb, burn Cerberus to the ground, and make sure TIM's corpse is nothing but ash.
This is gonna be fun and heartbreaking.
Even in the novels, BioWare desperately wanted Kai Leng to be badass.
Mass Effect Retribution:
"Kai Leng's muscles strained as he pulled his chin up over the bar one last time. Then he dropped to the floor and knocked out a final set of fifty push-ups.
"When he was done he threw a towel over his shoulder, strode to the fitness room's gravity controls, and dialed it back down from two hundred percent to one standard G." (Page 133)
Kai Leng isn't as bad as he in the games, but this feels like an excessive attempt to demonstrate how Awesome he is.
Few things in Mass Effect are funnier than Bioware trying to play Kai Leng off as a badass when he's one of the weakest "bosses" in the series. There's also the in-game hilarity of Kai Leng thinking he's the pinnacle of humanity when he can't manage any part of a fight on his own. Tela Vasir, bleeding and stumbling, was a tougher fight in ME2. She's able to hold her own despite the circumstances, potentially up against a biotic Shepard, Liara, and an asari justicar. Boy, who are you kidding with that boastful bullshit?
