It started off following your wish, but it kind of strayed off somewhere along the way, but I hope you still like how it turned out. Think of it as a premise to your wish. I did everything I could to add āspiceā to this story, itās not NSFW, unfortunately. I donāt have the guts to write those kind of stories just yet.
āKyaa~! Minamino-sama~!
āMinamino-sama, please go out with me~!ā
āKyaa~! Minamino-sama, please look over here~!
Resolutely ignoring all the screaming, Kagome briskly walked down the halls of Meiou High. Passing by a group of girls, she couldnāt help but cringe at all their high-pitched squealing.
She didnāt know who this āMinamino-samaā was, but she felt for the poor guy, to have to deal with such a large fanbase. It must be really stressful and troublesome.
Looking back at the horde of females blocking the halls, all she could see was a flash of red clashing horribly against the hideous shade of magenta of the malesā school uniform before she rounded a corner and continued on her way to find her classroom.
She was ashamed to even be of the same species as her female classmates for all their fangirling. It made her wonder about their level of intelligence when it comes to a good looking male.
Sure, even she could appreciate the appeal of an attractive male, but she doesnāt lose all her common sense like those fangirls. And besides, having an attractive face wouldnāt even be remotely appealing if they didnāt also have a personality to match.
She would likely kill herself if she caught herself acting like those crazy fangirls. It took all of her patience to resist snapping at them for all of their shrieking, it was too damn early for all of their fangirling.
Clutching her school bag to her chest, Kagome hurried her steps when she spotted her designated classroom, glad for even a brief reprieve from all the noise.
The same routine happens every single day, that sheās considering on bringing pain relievers to school just so she didnāt have to deal with all their migraine-inducing fangirling. It seems that she has to deal with fangirls once again, and these fangirls are much more crazy-obsessed than what she was used to dealing with.
The fangirls from her old middle school were tame compared to this Minamino-samaās fanbase, and by a large margin.
She didnāt want the trouble that comes with fangirls. The fangirls that followed Hojo around hated her because he had this infatuation with her, and it also didnāt help when her friends only encouraged his feelings, saying that they would be a āperfect couple.ā Some friends they were, she was glad she didnāt have to deal with them any longer.
Hojo was an all-around nice guy, but she just wasnāt interested, and even when she bluntly rejected Hojo in their faces, they just wouldnāt leave her alone. The only good thing after that, was Hojo finally got over his infatuation with her. Hopefully, he moved on to someone who would actually appreciate his feelings. Maybe then, his fangirls would finally leave her alone.
There was no doubt in her mind that they might look for her if their precious Hojo still has feelings, even an inkling, for her. She didnāt want to even think about that happening, she might just jinx herself.
Kagome was almost regretting her decision to transfer because of the large fanbase in the school, and she studied her butt off just to pass the entrance exam to Meiou High. The only reason she chose this school was because it had the all courses she wanted to take, and it was relatively close to her home.
It wasnāt a long commute, but she still had to wake up early if she wanted to make it to her first class.
Her other choice was Sarayashiki High, which was even closer to her home. It was a good school with a good curriculum and the entrance exams was rumored to be fairly easy, but it was a school that was mostly dominated by delinquents.
Sheās pretty certain that her cousin, Urameshi Yusuke, goes there and that school fits him to a T.
Heās got that delinquent act down pat, and should she attend that school, she wouldnāt get any studying done because her temper just wouldnāt mix well with all the delinquents. It would only get her into fights along with her cousin. It was something about herself that she could freely admit, her short temper.
She could remember all the times that her short temper got the best of her, but her cousin, Yusuke has an even shorter temper than herself. And besides, sheās trying to stay away from trouble, not find them.
Sheās had enough trouble to last her a lifetime during her middle school years. She pretended to have all the diseases known and unknown to man, just so she could fix a mistake she made five hundred years in the past.
She really should have let her mother, instead of her nearly senile grandfather, to come up with believable excuses to explain her frequent absences. It was bad enough that she was labeled as the āsick girl.ā
She didnāt want to be called a delinquent as well, that was all on her cousin, who proudly held the title of the āStrongest Delinquent of Sarayashiki High.ā
It was a miracle in and of itself, that she even managed to pass her last year of middle school, let alone get accepted into a prestigious high school like Meiou High. Kagome would hold off on regretting her decision just yet, fangirls or no.
She didnāt want something like fangirls to deter her from getting an education and graduating high school. She actually wanted to make something of her life, unlike those nitwits.
Entering her classroom, she was glad to see it empty of students.
Moving towards the back, she took her window seat and placed her bag on her desk, taking out the things she needed for the class, which was math. Her most hated subject.
It sucks to have math so early in the morning, but she rather have it done and over with than have to dread it later in the day.
Looking out the window, Kagome watched the students mingled about as there was plenty of time before the first bell. After a moment of watching the students, she moved her gaze from the window to her desk and sighed.
She really didnāt want to do math, but she might as well get a head start on todayās lesson. Grabbing her math textbook, her notebook and pencil from her bag, she looked up when she heard the door quietly slide open, then swiftly shut close.
Kagome was surprised to see the same redheaded male she saw earlier, crowded by fangirls. She guessed he was this Minamino-sama, that practically everyone talks about. Even outside of school, she would hear his name floating around.
She could see why he was so popular, what with his exotic looks and overall polite demeanor, according to the elderly that would regularly visit the shrine.
Kagome found out they like to gossip a lot, and more than once or twice, they always mentioned a nice young man with long red hair, helping them out with their errands. He also has quite the green thumb.
The elderly really had no reason to lie, so she took their word for it, unless they were purposely being cryptic.
At least they werenāt as senile as her grandfather, otherwise she wouldnāt believe a word they say until she saw it with her own eyes.
The redhead seems to not have noticed her presence yet, so Kagome took her time to observe him. She was quite amused to see his rather haggard appearance.
He looked very winded with his mussed up hair and rumpled uniform despite not sounding out of breath at all.
Rumors say that heās normally cool and composed, but she guessed even someone like him, can lose their composure from dealing with crazy-fangirls.
He was quite tall for someone his age, standing under six feet, and if she didnāt know that he wasnāt full Japanese because of his odd coloring, she would say that heās got mixed blood somewhere in his family.
Elderly gossip are surprisingly full of useful and correct information. Itās how she found out heās 100% Japanese, but she could also tell from the almond shape of his eyes and the delicate features of his face that he is Japanese, as most Japanese have similar facial features.
From afar, he might have looked like a woman because of his long waist length hair and delicate features, but the broadness of his shoulders, and his confident gait, indicated otherwise.
There was no doubting his masculinity.
Kagome stifled a giggle behind her hand when she saw the redhead shudder in disgust, probably from dealing with his fangirls. She could faintly hear them from a distance, shouting his name. He must have lost them from halfway across the school campus, since Meiou High's a pretty large school.
It seems that she wasnāt quiet as she thought because the redhead tensed and she was met with a pair of startled, emerald green eyes. Kagome wasnāt really surprised to see such a verdant green color for his eyes considering his odd, exotic looks despite being of Japanese descent.
He was like her in a way, they both have different coloring belying their Japanese heritage.
His hair was as red as a bloody rose, while hers was like the blackest of midnight. She rather liked the deep red color of his hair, it suited him well. His eyes were green, like that of a deep emerald, or rather the dark green of an untamed forest; wild in its beauty, like a jungle.
In contrast, her eyes were like dark blue sapphires that could be as clear as the sky. They were calm in its beauty, but can be as unpredictable as the sky.
She could tell that he has the inclination like that of a predator, cunning and highly intelligent, but he also has a spark, that hinted at something sly and mischievous.
If there was one word that could aptly describe him, Kagome would say he was exactly like a kitsune from ancient lore.
If there was one thing Kagome learned from her travels in the past, there was more to kitsunes than their infamous trickster facade. Shippo, being a prime example, was wise beyond his years despite only being a kitsune-kit when they first met.
And for all his childish antics, Shippo could show a certain maturity when the situation calls for it, but otherwise he was content to remain as his very curious and playful self.
Kagome wouldnāt even be surprised if the redhead was actually a kitsune-in-disguise. Though she was curious of the afterimage that seemed to shadow and overlap him for a moment, and it only cemented the idea of him being a kitsune-in-disguise to be true.
There was no mistaking the shape and size of the ears that momentarily shadowed his redhead. Kitsune ears, although the coloring was different.
Silver. The redheadās shadow was silver.
From what Shippo has told her about kitsunes, the coloring of their fur is what distinguishes kitsunes from other kitsunes, and Silver Kitsunesā or Spirit Kitsunes, as they are most commonly known asā are the rarest and most powerful of all kitsunes out there. They are closely followed by Shadow Kitsunes, who has midnight black fur.
Shippo has once told her that due to her coloring alone, he would have mistaken her as a Shadow Kitsune in disguise if he hadnāt felt the purity in her aura. It was no wonder he took to her so well, it probably didnāt help that her temperament was also similar to a Shadow Kitsune.
Shadow Kitsunes had, amusingly enough, the patience of a saint with tempers that burned like embers and were quick to ignite.
Kagome gave the redheadā Ā and yes, she was going to keep calling him āredhead,ā since she didnāt want to call him āMinamino-samaā like those fangirls, and besides, she didnāt really know him outside of rumors and gossipā a disarming smile. She inwardly smirked at his actions at a perceived āthreatā to his person.
Outwardly, Kagome could see that rumors of his coolheadedness to be true, but she could also see that he was really suspicious of her by the slightest narrowing of his eyes, and tense posture. He was acting very much like a cornered kitsune. He was ready to move at a moments notice.
Since he didnāt seem to want to break the rising tension between them, she decided to be the first one to break the ice. There was five more minutes until the first bell, and she was sure that he wouldnāt want to be in this classroom by then, because a lot of his fangirls are in her class.
They appear to be everywhere, and she, for one, didnāt want to be the target of their ire if they find out she was alone with their precious āMinamino-samaā for an extended period of time.
āThereās still five minutes until the first bell if you want to leave this classroom unhindered.ā Kagome wanted to say āalive,ā but heās already got a lot in his plate, so she gave him some slack.
The suspicion in his eyes only deepened and Kagome could only sigh at her predicament. Itās like all the people she meets for the first time always has the wrong impression of her.
Just from her physical appearance alone, Kaede believed her to be Kikyoās reincarnation, and Inuyasha instantly called her Kikyo when he first laid his eyes on her.
Shippo thought her a kitsune-in-disguise, which really wasnāt all that bad, in her opinion.
Miroku with his lecherous mind, thought her an easy pick-up because of her school uniform. That uniform was such a lecher magnet.
Sango, who was filled with mistaken vengeance, thought her and Inuyasha, well mostly Inuyasha, as an enemy.
Kouga had this weird infatuation with her, after she slapped him for kidnapping her. And just because she could see the Shikon shards, he immediately and verbally claimed her as āhis woman,ā despite her multiple and vehement rejections.
SesshÅmaru, well, he didnāt even bother to hide his disdain for her humanity, even after she gained his respect for saving his ward, Rin, and surviving his hellish training.
She swore on her life that he was actually trying to kill her when they were training just so he can use the Tenseiga on her. She saw him fingering the sword on his hip, more than once with a contemplating look on his face.
Sometimes, Kagome wondered what it was about her that gave everyone the wrong impression.
āLook, senpai,ā she was sure he was a year older than her, āI donāt want any trouble with your fangirls and since a majority of those who are in my grade take this classā¦ā Kagome let her sentence hang when she saw his eyes widen in understanding.
She was rather amused when he relaxed from his tense posture, probably because she wasnāt one of his fangirls, before tensing again, his eyes slightly dilated in panic as her words processed in his mind. He has five minutes left before the first bell.
Hiding a grin behind her hand, Kagome watched as her redheaded senpai gather his wits and compose himself.
āThank you for the warning, itās very much appreciated.ā
Kagome only smiled at his very smooth response and nodded her head towards the sound of feminine chatter sounding closer, and closer to the classroom, no doubt his fangirls.
āMy name is Shuichi, Minamino Shuichi, and thank you again, missā¦ā
This time, Kagome didnāt bother to hide her kitsune-like grin. He was very curious, the only fault to a kitsune is their insatiable curiosity, and he was no different. He was fishing for her name.
She got a smirk in reply, knowing that he was caught in the act and didnāt bother to hide it. He was still waiting and since Kagome didnāt want to deal with the trouble, that is his fangirls, she gave him what he wanted and more.
āKagome, Higurashi Kagome,ā she said in kind, āNice to meet you, Kitsune-senpai~ā
Kagome laughed outright at the look of surprise on his face, no doubt not expecting her rather cheeky response.
āTick, tock, senpai~ You wouldnāt want to be here before the first bell. I can already hear them nearing the classroom.ā Kagome was enjoying herself and it was all because of this redheaded kitsune-in-disguise, itās been awhile since sheās had a good laugh. She was however, startled at his sudden close proximity.
Heās fast. She thought to herself.
Kagome couldnāt help the faint blush dusting her cheeks as he leaned in, their cheeks close to touching, but not. She could peripherally see one of his hands support himself up on her desk, and his long red hair brush the top of her desk.
Her hand twitched to run her fingers through his red locks, it looked so silky and soft. There was also a faint scent of roses and a heady, but subtle masculine musk. She surmised it was all natural like nature, because it wasnāt pungent and irritating like cologne.
His hooded eyes remained locked on her own as he purred against her surprisingly, sensitive ear, āItās a pleasure to meet you too, Kagome.ā
Kagome gasped and jerked her head back at the sudden nip on her right ear. She blushed a bright red as she covered her equally red ear from further abuse, when she heard deep chuckling coming from the redheaded male, who was once again standing by the door.
āThank you once again, Vixen.ā
There was still a faint blush on her cheeks as Kagome blinked at the sudden nickname. He was gone just as the first bell rang and students began to fill in the empty classroom, followed by her math teacher and a few stragglers.
She laughed quietly to herself, a small smile on her lips.
āA kitsune, indeed.ā she whispered under her breath. Sheās got the feeling that it wonāt be the last sheās seen of her Kitsune-senpai.
By the end of her last class for the day, Kagome was exhausted, and she also had library duty before she can go home. For some reason, all her teachers were being particularly brutal today.
She now had multiple assignments worth a big chunk of her grade that will be due by the end of the semester.
English, Japanese, Music and Art, she can handle, but it was her sciences and maths, sheāll have the most trouble with. Her history has also become a problem as well. It may have been her best subject, but for her history assignment, she was suppose to find a partner to work with.
She barely knew anyone in the school due to the fact she didnāt want to associate herself with fangirls and fanboys. A vast majority of this school is a part of the fan clubs or involved in some other way, like a few acquaintances sheās made.
She shudders to even think of what will happen to her, should she partner herself with a fangirl. Even if she asked one of her male classmates, theyāll get the wrong idea and think she was asking them out via a study date or something. Her grades will plummet!
She didnāt think herself conceited or anything, but sheās considered an exotic beauty in Meiou High. Her long raven-black hair and crystal blue eyes attracted the boysā and some girlsā attention, and has amassed herself a large fanbase, but not as large as her Kitsune-senpai.
She didnāt think she could handle that kind of attention, Hojo was enough and her so-called friends kept pushing him to her.
She was just glad that she came off as aloof enough that her peers found it hard to approach her, despite her kind disposition, but now that sheās thought more about it, it may have just backfired on her. At least, she didnāt have to look for a partner in her grade.
Her teacher did say they could ask any student to be their partner for the assignment as long as they get the studentās agreement.
Leaving the classroom with her school bag in hand, Kagome made her way to the library, the only place in the school she can have a quiet place to be alone in her thoughts.
Not many students venture to the library other than the more focused, scholarly students and they usually leave her alone. They only pester her with questions on where to find certain books since theyāre too lazy to look for them by themselves.
Kagome sighed as she was almost finished her duties in the library and then, she can finally go home and get her well deserved rest.
Placing the last book in the shelf, she turned around only to trip on an uneven part of the carpeted floor. She couldnāt risk grabbing in the the bookshelves otherwise she might bring it down with her, so she closed her eyes and braced for the impact, cursing her clumsiness. She was so getting carpet burns on her hands and knees.
She thought she got rid of her clumsy nature with SesshÅmaruās training, and he was a hardcore perfectionist.Ā
He wouldnāt let her handle anything sharp, pointy, and dangerous until he was positively certain she wouldnāt accidentally kill herself because of her clumsy nature.
Even her bow and arrows were confiscated despite being already proficient in archery.
Instead of feeling the hard, unforgiving carpeted floor, Kagome was surprised to feel deceptively strong arms wrap around her waist, catching her fall, and a hard body against the palm of her hands. She was then surrounded by the familiar scent of roses.
Slowly opening her tightly shut eyes, she was curiously met with someoneās chest clad in the maleās magenta uniform. She moved her gaze upwards until her blue eyes locked with a pair of mischievous green eyes.
Kagome was getting a crick in her neck from having to look up to her saviourās eyes and visibly pouted at her short height. He was at least a head or so taller than her. Gazing into intense green eyes, she couldnāt help but get lost in them.
She felt very safe and warm. She felt protected in his arms, and when she finally realized the kind of position she was inā very intimately wrapped in his arms, she might addā Kagome blushed a furious shade of red.
She carefully removed herself from his arms, missing the look of disappointment that momentarily flashed across his face before disappearing as quickly as it came, refusing to look into his eyes. Stepping back to give herself some space, Kagome fidgeted nervously in place, her mind running a mile a minute.
She couldnāt think properly without blushing a bright red, her mind was an scrambles! She was so embarrassed at being caught in her moment of clumsiness.
It felt good to be held in his arms. Kagome blushed at her thoughts, but she couldnāt deny the disappointment she felt when she removed herself from his embrace.
Kagome was snapped out of her thoughts at the sound of quiet, masculine laughter and she couldnāt help the words that came unbidden from her lips.
āYou really have a beautiful laugh, you should do it more often.ā
As soon as the words left her lips. Kagome gasped and covered her red face with both of her hands, letting out a whimper of embarrassment.
Me and my big mouth! She mentally cursed herself. Why couldn't she just keep her thoughts to herself!
Peeking between her fingers at her Kitsune-senpaiā she kept the moniker, since it suited him wellā she blushed at the mirth shown clearly in his eyes, then she felt her own eyes widen when she realized that she still hasnāt thanked him for saving her from her clumsiness.
āA-Ano, e-eto⦠T-Thank you, for catching me earlier, senpaiā¦ā Kagome was blushing and looking at anywhere but her senpai, as she stammered out her thanks.
āIt was my pleasure, Kagome.ā she swore her heart skipped a beat at the sound of her name coming from his lips and her cheeks burned anew at the sight of his smile.Ā
She really hoped she wouldnāt act like this at every encounter with her Kitsune-senpai. She really didnāt want to turn out like his crazy fangirls.
She tried to cool down her burning cheeks and her pounding heart by taking even, deep breaths discreetly. She didnāt want to seem like she was hyperventilating.
Once her heart has calmed down and there was only a faint tint on her cheeks, she wondered what he was doing in the library or what he was still doing in school. It was getting late, now that she thought about it, she could tell from the color of the light filtering from the windows, that the sun was about to set. Ā
āWas there something you needed my help with, Shuichi-senpai?ā Kagome asked curiously as she made her way to the front desk where she stashed her belongings and noticed that he was silently following her.
If she didnāt already know that he was there, she would think that she was alone in the library.
His aura was really muted to her senses that she could hardly feel him, and his steps barely make a sound.
The librarian had left earlier and trusted her to close things up for the day, it was something the strict librarian had trusted her to do after doing her library duties proficiently and without complaint for weeks after her transfer.
The librarian was an old lady with a no-nonsense attitude and she kind of reminded her of Kaede-baachan.
Getting her bag from under the desk, she turned to look at Shuichi with a curious tilt to her head.
āHn.ā she twitched at the familiar monosyllabic response. Itās been awhile since sheās been the receiving end of that annoying response.
āWell, if thereās nothing you need my help with, maybe you can help me with something.ā Thereās no harm in asking for his help, the worse he can do is reject her. She really needed the help with her assignments and she didnāt know anyone else to ask.
The downside of asking for his help was his fangirls, should they find out he was helping her, if he agreed to help her... She could just see the trouble and headaches sheāll experience under their harassment. Ā
āHmm~ And what should I get in return for my help?ā Kagome was starting to regret her decision of asking for his help. Maybe she should just suffer the attention of one of her own fans, but she really needed good help, and he was her best bet.
She sighed through her nose, she started it, she might as well see it through. Who knows? she thought, maybe something good will come out from this.
āWell, what do you want?ā she questioned honestly, staring into his mischievous green eyes.
āWhat do you think I want?ā She already knew what he wanted, she just wanted him to say it out loud. She wasnāt like a kitsune for nothing, and she could keep this going on for a long time if she wanted to. She raised a kitsune-kit after all.
āI think Iāll just keep you guessing. No need to spoil an interesting puzzle, after all.ā she said with an impish grin. The mirthful chuckle in reply was the only confirmation she needed to know that he was willing to help her.
āNow, about that help.ā she said as they began to leave the school together. āI was wondering if you could help me with...ā As Kagome explained her dilemma to her Kitsune-senpai, she could finally rest easy knowing that she wonāt have to worry about her grade, but his fangirls are another problem entirely.
She wondered how she was going to keep this from his overzealous fangirls.
She was beginning to suspect they are establishing themselves as a cult with how, uh, devoted they are to Minamino Shuichi. If they keep this up, she bet that Shuichi will have to resort to keeping any kind of relationship he may have a secret.
She wonders though, who will be the secret?
