ive always ALWAYS hated the fact that every time kaeluc gets mentioned especially on twitter, itâs always treated as taboo or gets a bad rep for having âthoseâ kind of people (âyeah, no wonder why theyâre ____, theyâre a kaeluc shipperâ), im not saying that all of us are pure saints but whenever somebody in the fandom gets outed as problematic, being a kaeluc shipper is the first thing people would bring up if they do happen to ship them.
itâs just bogging my mind that some would rather choose the censored (dogshit) version of diluc & kaeyaâs relationship than looking beyond the mostly terrible translation and listen to chinese people, who are well aware of their own culture, and the context of the sworn brother trope (bc some selective mfs also would rather trust someone âchineseâ who thinks calling someone gege = calling them an actual brother). and they have the audacity to shove an english screenshot of the game calling kaeluc âadoptive brothersâ down at anybodyâs throat who says otherwise, or insists that theyâre âadoptive brothersâ when itâs not. itâs fucking not. you would know this if you fucking read multiple posts of chinese people (some donât even ship them at all nor played genshin ever) explaining sworn brothers.
for the love of god yâall this is a CHINESE game written by CHINESE people from a CHINESE company that markets genshin to CHINESE PEOPLE first before us. it doesnât matter if mondstadt and its characters were based from germany or if kaeya and diluc arenât chinese, itâs still a fucking chinese game, with chinese elements. like the ship is kicking and running in the chinese fandom for a reason.
PLEASE leave kaeluc and its shippers alone!!! (esp yâall in twitter and tiktok) bc instead of me seeing juicy kaeluc fanart, hcs, edits, or literally anyone gushing about them after my hiatus from the game/fandom, all i still see now are âarent they brothersâ âincestâ or something xenophobic (abt russians/chinese people) at any mention of the ship at all. i donât want to generalize, but most of these are coming from That certain side of the fandom, it doesnât help when they are still invading the ship tag when they couldâve just⌠leave it alone and move on. now the posts are getting scarcer. even i am afraid of posting kaeluc unless i only use a certain platonic pair name of the two (ironic isnât it?)
thank god the discourse now wasnât as rampant as before (racism remarks, death threats, and bullying left and right), but harassing kaeluc shippers still in the big 2025??? and then complain about how youâre always surrounded by kaeluc shippers????? fuck offfffffff literally fuck off.
liking kaeya & diluc in a familial/platonic matter doesnât make you superior enough to bully those that do ship them, thatâs puritan bullshit. and if u wont bother yourself to learn about the cultural context of sworn brothers yet insist that theyâre âadoptedâ and/or calling the ship incest???? youâre a homophobe AND a sinophobe. (and you shouldnât be even playing a chinese game if youâre not going to respect its culture anyways)
much more light-hearted thought - Varka learning of the reason why Diluc and Kaeya fell apart and laughing at them like 'these kids and their end of the world dramas', telling them stories about the comrades he knew that makes them feel sheepish and realise that they are still so very young and that they are wasting time when they could be together, and Varka telling Kaeya about all the Khaenri'ahns he met along his journey who are still fighting the abyss
this is such a Varka thing to do that I wouldn't be surprised if something like this actually has happened or will happen
plus, I headcanon that Crepus knew something was going to happen to him eventually, so he told Varka to keep an eye on his dumbass boys when he's gone <3
