Oliver sipped his cup of blood, blinking at them.

Swearing under his breath, Kadam sheathed his sword.

Sean clutched his heart, "Why-? How-? Have you been standing there this whole time?"

"Yeah, pretty much."

"You jumpscared me!"

"I didn't even move, you jump scared yourself by noticing me." Pointed out Oliver, "I don't think thats my fault."

"Bitch" muttered Kadam, "Skaeking cryptid."

she did so good!!!! The heels! The flirty gay energy!!! The smirk!!! 💚

"I know you're all just thirsty looking at me," he flips his hair confidently, "Hydrate or die straight!"

I’m ultimately a Klainer at heart but there is something I find compelling about Kurt and Adam’s relationship. I think Kurt was pretty selfish with Adam and I think that’s something he needed to be at the time. He was in this intense period of transition, a conflict of self - new city, new school, new job, newly single, away from his dad for the first time, all at once/within a short period.

When Adam first meets Kurt his interest/attraction is obvious. Adam’s a senior, a significant enough age gap at that age. He seems a sensible guy so I doubt he’d believe everything the NYADA rumour mill would spit out, but I imagine he’s aware of a couple things: Kurt is gay, Kurt is new to the school for the second semester, he is from a conservative town.

I think it’s likely that Adam is intentionally letting Kurt set the pace. He has no idea at first if Kurt has had any romantic or sexual experience at all - it’s hardly far fetched to think he might not have done. So Adam flirts, lets his interest be known, but doesn’t outright ask Kurt out.

Then, he compliments Kurt on his dancing, and Kurt responds “my ex-boyfriend was the dancer in our relationship”. So, new info. Kurt had a high school boyfriend, and he’s still defining himself by that relationship (and with a somewhat negative self perception). Adam restates his compliment, ensures Kurt hears it rather than dismissing it, but doesn’t push further.

But then Kurt makes the first real move by asking Adam out. Given how much he has to gee himself up, it’s pretty clear he’s intending this to be a date, and given how delighted Adam is in response, it’s clear he sees it as one too.

Their relationship develops off screen, but 2 eps later he’s confiding in Adam about feeling bad for beating Rachel at midnight madness - I think this shows a certain intimacy with each other. Kurt is generally pretty guarded, and while it’s not a particularly deep chat, there is a vulnerability there.

I imagine it’s kept pretty chaste, but I think we have to infer that at this point there’s romantic intent to their relationship, and probably at least some physicality in the form of kissing. I don’t think Kurt would mention that he’s seeing someone to Blaine when they hook up in i do if there hadn’t been at least some clear romantic/sexual desire in his and Adam’s burgeoning relationship.

I think at some point off-screen, Adam and Kurt have had at least some form of convo about their relationship. I imagine Kurt has been open about his breakup with Blaine, and Adam, being older and more experienced, has likely suggested they take it slow, and not put a label on it if Kurt is not ready to do so.

Then we get to girls and boys on film. This is the last ep we see Adam in, but 100% not where the relationship ends - which I’ll come back to.

While come what may is clearly the key romantic aspect of this ep, I love Kurt/Adam here. I do think it’s clear they have real chemistry - Kurt is pretty giggly around him and they are clearly comfortable together. There’s plenty going on to infer that Adam comes round often and is very comfortable at the loft.

In one scene, he’s lying on the sofa reading a magazine while Kurt is playing solitaire - this reads more like established relationship behaviour, comfort being in each others space but doing solo activities. In another, he says Brody is a sweetheart, suggesting he’s been around him (and presumably around him and Rachel) enough to have formed an opinion, & he’s seen prepping food in their kitchen.

He stays the night due to the storm. Santana is sleeping on the sofa during this time, so I think it’s safe to assume he shares Kurt’s bed. Adam’s comment later in the ep about wishing they’d been snowed in longer, in my view, is glees way of suggesting no real hardcore fucking went on - but I tend to assume there was at least some physical intimacy between them when bed-sharing. Some cuddling, some kissing, given that Kurt is 19 years old probably an awkward morning erection at the very least.

A key thing for me in this ep, is that Kurt is clearly concerned about not hurting Adam’s feelings - when Santana mentions his recent hookup with Blaine he shuts her down immediately. He doesn’t want to address his crying over come what may. I think Santanas comment about the song being more intimate than sex, while a bit bitchy given the context, also subtly does both Kurt and Adam a favour. She’s letting Adam know - however physical their relationship may get, he won’t reach the level of intimacy Kurt had with Blaine.

Later this ep, Adam and Kurt go to see a movie, off screen (I’ve looked up what would have been in cinemas around this time, and I’m choosing to believe that they didn’t go to see a new release, but being artsy people in NY probably went to a cinema that focuses on old films - as Adam specifically says they’ll go find the sappiest film they can).

I think it’s not a huge stretch to believe their relationship probably got more physical at this point. I think Kurt will have been feeling so conflicted. As he tells Adam, he desperately wants to move on, and I think letting himself develop a deeper physical relationship with Adam will have been a part of that process. I also think he will be carrying some guilt about the things Santana let slip while Adam was staying with them, and I can imagine him letting himself let go and give in to the feeling of being so wanted.

Another reason I believe they will have gotten physical at this point, is the fact that despite us not seeing Adam again, their relationship arguably continues offscreen at least until Kurt gets back with Blaine, and there’s conflict when it ends. I also think glee tends to make it a big deal when characters don’t want to have sex, and I’m not sure it makes sense to assume people aren’t having sex unless explicitly told otherwise when we’re talking about relationships between sexually-inclined adults.

We know that after Love, Love, Love, Kurt is thrown out of the Adams Apples. In the words of Oliver, Adams actor: “What intrigued me most and was difficult to make sense of is why this guy who from the outside seems he'd be relatively popular and have a lot of stuff going on for him. But he's the head of a group of misfits and running this glee club… He's made a very conscious spiritual life decision to have glass half full and enjoy life at every opportunity. His glee club is not about competition or winning sectionals, it not about competing or about who's the best singer or who's the best looking. It's about who's got the most spirit and who can have the most fun.”

I think the fact Kurt is literally kicked out of the group is pretty telling. I think something goes wrong with Kurt and Adam’s communication before this point. Kurt probably believes Adam is happy with the lack of a label to their relationship, and Adam probably believes Kurt getting more physical with him is a sign he’s moving on from Blaine and looking for a more serious relationship - but doesn’t want to push and is waiting for Kurt to make the first step towards labelling it something more. I think they both misunderstand the others headspace and motivation.

I think during their relationship Adam was patient, calm, and caring towards Kurt - likely pushing his own needs aside to be able to be the person Kurt needed at the time. Going from being this guiding, open presence, to effectively banishing him and never wanting to see him again, leads me to believe Kurt was actually a bit of a heartbreaker in this situation, whether he intended to be or not, showing up unexpectedly engaged to marry his ex, when Adam felt their relationship and depth of feeling for one another was growing.

Long story short, I think Adam desperately tried to be what Kurt needed him to be, pushing his own needs and feelings mostly to one side, and while Kurt had some real attraction to and curiosity about Adam, he unintentionally took advantage of him, using Adam to fill his loneliness without fully considering the pain that leading him on would cause.

✨ Kadam was six foot, looking about eighteen years old. He had deep blue eyes and hair like midnight, with a blue streak dyed into the fringe.

But that wasn’t what made everyone stop and gape. He was wearing a sleeveless dress with an outrageous slit showing off more than was decent. (Will blushing so hard) He had high-heeled sandals and was currently trying to decide on a lipstick color.

“Which shade of blue do you think?”

Halt’s scowl deepened. “This is your legendary warrior?” His voice was icy with the implication that he was not in the mood for games.

Kadam turned to Gilan. “Which shade?”

Gilan blinked in surprise. “The left one.”

Kadam frowned. “Well, clearly you have no taste.” He chucked it in the bin and began applying the right one. ✨

Flirting/Innuendos/jokes/wordplay

✨ Kadam was taking a sip from a golden chalice of blood. He lowered it and swirled the liquid, throwing a wink at Gilan as he said, in his most flirtatious tone, “Hello, Gilly-boy.”

Caught off guard and more defensive than flirtatious, Gilan hissed, “Gilly-boy?!”

Kadam chuckled. “Well you do look like a fish put of water when you gape at me like that.” he winked.

Gilan struggled to find a comeback.

Kadam gave a lazy grin. “That’s okay. Talking is pretty hard around me.”✨

Swordfighting,

✨ "But I couldn’t stand being idle. So I gave myself a goal—to become the best swordsman in the world. Not bravado, not ambition, not a hyperbole. I wanted a challenge, so I made one for myself." He stared at the horizon, lost in memories, "I trained for decades. Tracked down every swordmaster I could and trained with them until I could beat them every time, then went looking for the next one. Eventually thirty years passed, and I was running out of swordmasters. None could beat me. Not even close. I scoured the world. I started to think I’d completed my goal and was looking for a new purpose." ✨

Being annoying on purpose,

✨ A huge blast of water slammed into Juniper, sending her flying overboard.

Kadam walked up to where Juniper had been standing a second ago and leaned against the rail, staring at the horizon like Juniper had been.

Juniper climbed back aboard, soaked and sputtering. “KADAM! What was that for?!”

Kadam barely spared her a glance. “This is my spot.”✨

✨Kadam: Halt, you need to wear heels

Halt: (sips coffee and doesnt even look up at Kadam) no

Kadam: (smirks) I’m buying you some nice platform heel boots. Sensible ones too. No one will take you seriously if you can’t wear heels.

Halt: (sets down his coffee slowly)(his eyes narrowing) If you even come near me with heels, I will throw them and you in the moat.

Kadam: I can swordfight in heels. I can poledance in heels. I can do both simultaneously in heels. Can you do archery or pole dance in heels? I bet you can’t even walk in heels.

Halt: (his pride smarting ever so slightly no matter how ridiculous the challenge was) I can walk them. I just don’t, because they are ridiculous.

Pauline: you can walk in heels? Why didn’t you tell me? Kadam, I’ll supply his boot size. He needs heels.

Halt: (panicking internally) no.

halt internal thoughts: et tu pauline?✨

Getting his ass kicked by his man

✨Kadam groaned as Sean walked away with his sword sheathed. He sat there, stunned, staring at the boy who had beaten him—twice. Sean glanced back and saw Kadam’s face flushed. It was probably just from exertion. Though as he left, Sean swore he heard a quiet murmur behind him: “That was hot.”

As Sean was working in the stables Kadam poked him on the shoulder, “So when are you free?”

Sean snorted, “Ready to have your ass handed to you again?”

Kadam nodded eagerly.

Regarding him with confusion, Sean shrugged, ”Well I need to groom those Pegasi and muck out these stalls. If you want it to go faster you could help.”

Kadam eagerly grabbed a shovel, accidentally dumping manure all over Sean’s shoes. Kadam’s jaw dropped as he stared in horror at what he’d done.

Sean sighed, voice dripping with sarcasm. “Thanks." ✨

And just being a menace in general.

Kadam has a stealth outfit, but isn't very good at being stealthy. You just know hes humming mission impossible while climbing through vents and knocking over trashcans accidentally.

He's got quite the resume in terms of power and skill. Most of the time his biggest enemy, is his own mind.

✨Kadam sighed, it wasn’t very dramatic, or cool. But it got the job done, as he rigged up a noose on the nearby tree. “Kadam?”

Kadam turned as he put the noose around his neck, standing on the stool. “Hey Sean, I promise, you won’t have to worry about me hurting you ever again.”

“Kadam!!”

Kadam kicked out the stool.✨

✨ Kadam was clutching his head with one hand and holding himself steady against the wall with the other. His breath came in sharply, hyperventilating. Eventually he collapsed to the floor muttering about the screaming. "its everywhere. it never ends. i can see their faces, hear their pleas. they never quiet. they never leave me be."

Rushing up, Sean sat down and pulled kadam into his arms. While he hugged him tight he murmured, "kadam, do you like raindrops? imagine raindrops."

Eyes unfocused and distant, Kadam seemed to hear Sean. He whispered, "Raindrops?"

Sean nodded "the sound of rain. put each of those screams in a raindrop and let it fall away. focus on the sound of the rain."

Kadam clutched Sean tight and muttered a song from long ago, "pitter patter goes the rain.

boom boom goes the thunder.

pitter patter goes the rain.

boom boom goes the thunder."

Sean began singing the other half along side kadam, "Here you are.

Look at you you're alright.

dancing to the rhythm of the rain."

As they sang the lullaby in shaky voices, kadams breathing slowed and he eventually fell asleep.

Sean held him tight and felt his own tears slide down his face in mourning of the peace kadam would never find. ✨

While he is dealing with trauma, thats only to be expected from a vampire, ocean demigod, with an abused childhood and too much power and responsibility for someone who just wants to be a kid.
