I will never shut up about being a teacher. They are seven. They don't know the world. They are the world. They cling to me like I am a lifeline. They tell me everything is stupid, me included. They would kill for a sticker. I would kill for them. They laugh because of my jokes. I laugh because of their jokes. They can't stay still. I move along. They don't understand almost anything. I teach them to understand a little bit more. I teach them that it's okay not to understand everything. They talk and I listen. I talk and they sometimes listen. We make rules and break them. When they are having a bad day, I cheer them up. When I am having a bad day, they cheer me up. They don't know that they do. They give me little trinkets and pictures like birds. I believe in each and every one of them and they know it. If no one believes in them, I am dead. If no one loves them, I am dead, too.
