Contrary to popular belief, and contrary to how he acted, Jacques loved Jon. He was the best owner any bird could ask for, honestly. Sure, he was loud and weird and smelled funny sometimes, but he took his job as a cyborg bird owner very seriously. And that meant a lot to Jacques.

So even though it was disgusting to display emotion, or love, or other human functions, he felt it was necessary on occasion to give his human some thanks. He did this in the form of hopping on Jon’s shoulder and nibbling on his hair and ear. 

True. Love.

Marzia stepped out from the ship’s galley and down into the basement with sweat dripping off her face. Being one of the only women on a pirate ship, she only had the option of being a cook or a laundress. She slid down against the wall to sit on the floor. Knowing an enemy ship was close, she figured she’d be alone, but as she glanced up to see someone else.

“Oh, sorry I didn’t see you there.”

What did Jon remember?  That was a good question. He was in the hospital for… almost dying. That’s what he thought. He remembered being stabbed, that’s it. Though, he pondered about this for a while until he realized the other needed to be answered.

    “I remember being stabbed earlier, nothing         else… I don’t even know who I am—”

He paused.

    “Who’re you?”

“You look like quite the story - and I’m not tryin’ to be rude, either.”
