a lesser author would've allowed a princess and her arranged marriage 'husband' who was actually a beautiful butch lesbian who infiltrated the royal court in order to murder her and her entire family as revenge for the genocide of her people to end with both of them staying at court and making incremental changes from within the system, living a life of lavish wealth while spreading largesse. but pdl said rip to them but i'm built different and gave us qiyan faking her death and jingnu disappearing after her after she discovers this (by trying to jump into her empty grave), forsaking the colonial history of her crown in favor of finding her lover broken but alive and deciding to live a good if modest life together directly helping the people, knowing that their time together is limited and treasuring it anyways. also shoutout to fgep for ALSO having the fls run away together to live as normal people dying of old age in each other's arms on bamboo mats in their little farmhouse. pdl really said solidarity or death.
